Job description
Lupine Canine is looking to expand and hire a new dog daycare assistant and driver to join our friendly team in and around Central/South London and Surrey.
Candidates should be naturally gifted and empathetic with animals, intelligent, science led, compassionate, a team player and capable of managing their own time in the field. A full clean driving licence and vehicle capable of transporting dogs safely is a requirement of the role (as the role expands to require more than one dog collected at a time, a vehicle will be provided). Candidates must comply with commercial vehicle insurance requirements.
All of the dogs that attend our day care or boarding facility have either been pre-trained by us, or assessed for their temprement, which assures our day care team that they will be working with well trained and balanced dogs.
Our staff are responsible for maintaining previously trained behaviour and commands, intellectual and physical stimulation during play and on walks and, at all times, assuring proper welfare and guarding against negligence.
New recruits will receive full “on-the-job” training and mentored by a fellow team member prior to being released to their customer facing role. Training to graduate to becoming a Lupine Canine trained Professional Dog Day Care Assistant takes around 3 weeks but the duration depends on the ability of the individual recruit.
As the UK's premium dog training company, at the bleeding edge of our field, it is vital to our valued clients that their dogs are safe, happy, and that their dog’s trained behaviour is maintained and improved through repetition over time.
Our ideal candidate will be passionate about dogs and keen to learn from both our Kennelmaster. He will teach the successful candidates everything they need to know; the practical techniques of dog training and the academic Canine Sciences required to completely understand the animals in their care. Candidates will also work closely with our Kennel Manager and Head Trainer.
Lupine Canine practices a “conveyor belt” career structure whereby everybody begins at the bottom, but there is room for additional training and options to move into other roles, such as dog walking or training, or higher within the kennel infrastructure. Pay and responsibility increase with each training level accomplished.
The successful candidate must be flexible in their role and be prepared to fulfil a number of key tasks throughout any given day.
This position will start as a minimum wage probation contract, for the preliminary probation period or until the Kennel Manager authorises promotion to a full contract team member (which ever is quicker), along with pay-rise. An intelligent, enthusiastic and capable candidate will rapidly become a fully fledged team member!
As part of the role, you will occasionally assist with our Walking team in London and Boarding dogs at our beautiful woodland-based 'spa' facility, “Nyssa” in Ockley, Surrey, as well as help box our raw prey diet (once per month), or drop off kibble and treats to clients.
The successful candidate may be asked to occasionally take care of dogs at their home location, which must be suitable and appropriate to safely and securely house a dog. This is not a requirement, but an option for additional pay if the location is suitable and the candidate desires to do so.
Company Overview
Lupine Canine is based in Cobham, Surrey. We work with individuals looking to train, board, and purchase retail items and dog food for their dog(s). From Basic Obedience training to K-9 Working Dog or Behaviour Modification, we can handle the entire process for our clients, both in the UK and overseas.
Vision
Lupine Canine is a leading Canine Service provider. Our friendly and experienced dog trainers and day-carers are passionate and devoted to improving each and every dog’s life. As we say, Dogs Come First Always. We aim to support and assist our clients in every aspect of their dog’s care, from the day their puppy first arrives and throughout the lifespan of their dog.
Responsibilities
Day Care Assistants will be travelling to clients' houses (sometimes entering the client's property unsupervised) and collecting dogs to take them to our HQ in Cobham. There, along with the kennel team, they will maintain and practice obedience to stimulate the dog’s mind to the standard of training they have achieved via playtime, cuddles, and dog walks. We do not walk multiple dogs at a time, even when boarding or daycare, so each walk is tailored to that individual dog’s needs and requirements following their training program with us.
Required Experience, Skills & Attitude
Successful candidates will be impeccably well presented and spoken. Our clients are high-net-worth individuals that expect a level of customer service second to none. Your passion for dogs must be clear, but more than that you must have great integrity, be trustworthy, reliable, responsible, and punctual.
You will have excellent communication skills, be clear and concise, with proper diction.
The successful candidate will, of course, have a natural affinity with dogs, constantly able to put a dogs’ needs before their own and to be, at their core, a decent humanist.
Successful candidates will also hold a full clean driving license and have their own vehicle to travel to clients and collect dogs (mileage/parking will be covered by the company at normal rates).
