As a Docketing Specialist, you will be accountable for the provision of docketing activities in support of Global Patents, maintaining all patent records within the IP database to ensure GSKs patents are appropriately managed and tracked, avoiding the loss of any patent rights. The role will report to the Patent Docketing Team Leader.

- Provide full patent docketing support to attorneys, ensuring timely, complete, and accurate docketing exhibiting good execution in terms of quality, proactivity, and quantity.
- Maintenance of IP database/ docketing system (Anaqua), docketing of new records and updating of all data on pending and granted/registered patents and designs, and the creation and maintenance of records for applicants, inventors etc.
- Review domestic and international patent correspondence, enter dates in docketing system, save mail and documentation to applicable matters in IP database/ docketing system, forwarding to patents personnel as needed.
- Ensuring the quality of data within the IP database through the cross-checking of data entry by team members in accordance with standard procedures and the conduct periodic audits of active matters to confirm integrity of docketing system
- Management of portfolio changes including but not limited to, the docketing of acquired or licensed cases on the patent database, implementing portfolio review decisions and global updating of multiple records/families
- Handling of actions including updating of parties and specific strategic information contained in IP database/ docketing system
- Identifying ways to streamline and improve docketing practices, collaborating with team members to ensure optimal ways of working, review processes and procedures, and to implement improvements
- Special projects and duties as assigned
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Secondary/High School diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year docketing experience
- 1+ year of patent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Formal paralegal training/certificate is preferred
- Experience working as a docketing specialist, patent prosecution paralegal, patent administrator, patent formalities or comparable position with experience working in a private practice or in-house legal environment
- Strong understanding of EU/US and international patent prosecution procedures, and detailed knowledge of the database country rules and system/custom generated reminders
- Experience with patent database management systems (Anaqua experience preferred) and excellent IT skills
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong capability for problem solving, analysis, judgment, and reasoning.
- Must be well-organized and able to handle a heavy workload and cope with ever increasing changes, multiple deliverables, and deadlines, while maintaining a calm and professional manner.
- Demonstrated capacity to work and deliver on tight timelines whilst maintaining a focus on quality
- Strong interpersonal skills and good communication (written and verbal).
- The ability to engage and interact effectively with a diverse team, build strong partnerships, and develop relationships that enable honest and open conversations
- Decisive, performance and customer driven
