John Crabbie Distillery is hiring new full-time Distillery Operators.
Ideal candidates are passionate, with a desire to learn, and build a legacy in whisky.
This is a perfect position for someone that may have distilling experience who wants to be a part of a company from the beginning and develop its story but making some surprisingly good spirits in exceptional packaging.
These are some of the things that you can be expected to do over the course of the day. This is to give you a snapshot of the breadth of the job.
● Learn from and take direction from Distillery Manager, Leads and dynamic team as the situation demands.
● General cleaning and sanitation of the production lab, office space and working areas.
● Inventory of raw materials, barrels & new make spirit.
● Milling grains and Cooking mashes.
● Manage and measure fermentations.
● Setting up pipework and pumps to charge stills for distillation.
● Filling and moving whisky barrels.
● Cleanliness and upkeep of the bonded areas.
● Uploading of the days production data to the distillery logs (offline and online).
● Great organization and record keeping with attention to detail is essential.
● Adherence to Health and Safety and HMRC guidelines at all times.
Must have the ability to:
● Learn new skills. Prior experience and training are not necessarily essential.
● Work with our diverse team to make a product you can be proud of.
● To repeatedly lift up to 25 kg and work in wet and dry environments in a variety of temperatures.
● To be on your feet for 8-12 hours a day.
● Proper handling of chemicals while wearing appropriate PPE is a necessary part of this job.
● Do other reasonable duties as directed by the Distillery Manager & Leads.
● Most importantly smell, taste and develop our new whiskies with the greater distillery team.
What sort of hours will I work?
We are currently operational during the week Monday-Friday, however we plan to extend our working hours and increase Production. You will then be required to work a 12 hour 4 on/4 off rotating shift pattern.
