Our teams are structured to have Dispenser team leads, qualified Dispensers and Dispensary assistants so there is lots of room for the right person to develop if you are looking for a long term, stable and fulfilling career in Dispensing and we offer full training and development opportunities. Job Introduction
The purpose of a Dispensary Assistant is to ensure the provision of professional and efficient service to the patients of Lakeside Healthcare Stamford attending the Dispensary.
We now have a great opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to work within our busy GP Surgery.
What you will do
- Issue all repeat medication requests for the Dispensary and the local Pharmacies on behalf of the patient.
- Action the online repeat prescription requests and using the dispensary task boxes appropriately.
- Ensure that the Dispensary Assistants team has the prescription telephone lines, answering the telephone for prescription queries and issuing prescriptions.
- Raise appliance prescriptions according to the requests from the community nursing team.
- Issue prescriptions for care homes, ensuring that they are sent to the relevant GP for signing and the correct Pharmacy for delivery.
- Organise and sort appliances and paperwork for collection/delivery when they have arrived.
- Transfer the medication to the patients at the window/counter as per the SOP.
- Collect and check all due prescription charges.
- Ensure all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored, and a record kept of all financial transactions.
- Deal with prescription queries from patients and Pharmacies at the window/counter.
- File dispensed parcels, ensuring correct labelling, and filing the prescription for collection.
- Forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the finance manager or dispensary manager according to practice policy.
- Ensure dispensary and equipment is regularly cleaned in accordance to practice standards.
- Accept pharmaceutical deliveries for the dispensary and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and handed to the driver.
- Ensure all items are stored appropriately.

- Full training will be provided on our In-house systems.
