Hourly Rate: $24.12, Annual Rate: $50,171.64 Effective as of: 08-16-2022


**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT


The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

RESPONSIBILITIES


SUMMARY: Receive calls from administration, schools, members of the public, bus drivers, and district employees concerning students; accidents; community complaints; requests for information; requests for dissemination of information to other schools, groups, parents, or employees. Operate radio, telephone, and computer equipment to relay information or orders to proper district officials or first responders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ability to work compatibly with the public, district employees and public safety in a team environment. Present a professional image, exhibiting excellent public relations skills.

Evaluate incoming information and operate in a calm and proficient manner under emergency and crisis situations. Make critical decisions independently. Strong multi-tasking skills are important as well as the ability to operate multiple computers simultaneously.

Ability to meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform essential functions of the job. Ability to work any shift, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including working holidays and days where the District is closed due weather or other circumstances. Ability to respond to work on short notice to assist in emergencies or shift shortages.

Receive emergency and non-emergency incoming telephone calls and dispatch applicable resources, including law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services ensuring adherence to protocols.

Monitor and maintain multiple software programs that control security alarms, fire alarms, elevator alarms, imminent freeze alarms, supervisory alarms, AC power fail alarms, runway alarms, and water pump alarms. Monitor and maintain cameras at entry and exit points of all buildings. Monitor all District Safe to Tell reports. Send emergency notifications to entire District as needed.

Provide assistance to employees via telephone and in-person for badge processing and access control questions.

Respond to calls from community and District personnel by determining appropriate resources; dispatch resources by radio or phone.

Serve as liaison between School Safety department, law enforcement, fire departments and schools determining the most appropriate action based on information received.

Provide after-hours assistance to transportation and security officers through radio communication, telephone and in-person for emergency and non-emergency situations.

Ensure students, staff, and visitors adhere to School Board policies and regulations while on campus or at District-sponsored events.

Assist responding police officers in the conduct of investigations by contacting necessary District personnel, opening doors, turning on/off alarm systems, etc.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required. Course work in areas of public safety and law enforcement operations, communications, and computer technology/operations highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in dispatch duties providing a high degree of customer service in a fast-paced environment requiring effective interpersonal and conflict resolutions skills.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, excellent computer skills, and demonstrated knowledge of telephone customer service skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced high stress environment. Knowledge of industrial or school emergency response and reporting systems. Operating knowledge of an experience with computers, software, and Microsoft Office and Google applications; and Security Information Systems and various alarm systems.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Valid Colorado driver's license with good driving history (must provide driving record) at time of hire. CPR and First Aid certification within 3 months of hire; Crisis Prevention Institute and Physical Crisis Intervention training required within 6 months of hire. Crisis Intervention Training for Youth within 6 months of hire.

SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and problem solving skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and technical equipment under stressful situations; conflict resolution and verbal de-escalation; excellent computer skills at time of hire. New employees must pass background investigation prior to hire and a pre-employment psychological assessment, while existing employees applying for this position must complete and approved psychological assessment.

CONTACTS: Position requires daily contact with persons in the same work unit/building, other departments/buildings, students, parents, and the general public to exchange information, coordinate responses to situations and resolve problems. Weekly contact with citizen or public organizations/agencies (law enforcement, etc.) to furnish or obtain information.

SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS: Low exposure to self to repetitive motion injuries due to extensive keyboarding and to bruises and cuts due to typical office accidents. High exposure to others to chemical and heat burns, fractures, loss of limb and/or sight, disfigurement, and/or fatality if a person in this position fails to respond in a timely or adequate manner to alarms and/or emergency situations.

The employee is frequently required to compare and analyze, occasionally required to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, compile and negotiate.

JUDGMENT AND DECISION MAKING: This position requires sound judgment and analytical skills with little or no supervision to accurately assess a situation and determine the appropriate course of action to include intervention, containment, and notification of appropriate agencies and personnel. Requires some computer knowledge to identify malfunctioning alarm systems and requires judgment and decision making skills to make proper notifications when systems are malfunctioning. Work is guided by the School Board policies and District and department policies and procedures. Errors in decision making could result in failing to respond or an inappropriate response, either of which could lead to possible injury or loss of life and/or property. Supervisor is involved in moderate and major decisions.

DIVERSITY OF DUTIES: Duties require verbal skills to obtain vital information from callers who may be distraught and/or uncooperative, District policy and department procedures, basic knowledge of public safety response, two-way radio and computer operation, and functions of the District alarm systems.
