Treasure Seekers Disco
The Treasure Seekers Discos are our twice weekly discos for adults with learning disabilities. They are high energy, highly fun nights. They are great social events and provide an opportunity to meet with friends and make new ones. The discos provide the opportunity to create a safe space and a welcoming environment for people, which opens the door to support them in other activities. Running Monday and Thursday evenings 7-8.30pm, the Disco Manager is responsible for overseeing at least one of these events each week as well as planning and admin during the remaining time.
The ideal candidate for this position is a passionate, people-oriented leader with a background in events management. We're looking for an individual who is excited to build on the potential of the discos. They will need to demonstrate good patience and clear boundaries to a team of volunteers with learning disabilities. The candidate will be keen to build relationships with other VCSE organisations and public services to enhance the opportunities of those that attend the disco. Our Disco Lead will work with the directors to implement sound business strategies that fit within the framework of our vision and values and ensure compliance with applicable national and local laws and regulations.
- All successful applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and must provide two references before a start date can be arranged.

Purpose of Role
To enable people to become the best version of themselves by hosting opportunities for people to socialise and have fun through our discos for adults with learning disabilities. Driving the vision, values and culture of Treasure Seekers, ensuring the discos remain a healthy and proactive part of Treasure Seekers.
Main Activities/Tasks
- To set up and run the event, including managing the environment and responding to incidents and accidents and looking at any further measures needed to manage risks
- To plan and oversee monthly special events such as themed discos
- To oversee the smooth running of the other discos
- To recruit and oversee the development and training of our team of volunteers and staff, including managing a rota and inducting new recruits
- To build positive relationships with those that attend the discos regularly
- Grow the potential for the discos through marketing, social media posts and creating a positive image for them
- To ensure the financial sustainability of the discos through overseeing the income and expenditure and being responsible for managing the budget
- To identify opportunities to link the discos to other Treasure Seekers' activities
- To bring a confidence and energetic dynamic to the team
- To adapt, grow and develop the discos to be a fantastic event for people with learning disabilities in Gloucester
- To build in processes that will grow and develop the discos
- Maintain good professional working relationships with relevant external organisations
- Connect with other departments within Treasure Seekers to collaborate and share learning
- To attend training and regular professional development
- To work with the Directors and General Manager under their leadership
- To work within the policies and procedures of Kingfisher Treasure Seekers
- To promote Kingfisher Treasure Seekers and its work
- Any other duties as required
Training and experience
Full training will be given during induction and on an ongoing basis.
- Experience of leading a team of people (preferred)
- Experience of running events (preferred)
- Experience of working supporting people with learning disabilities (desirable)
- Experience working in or with the VCSE sector and knowledge of services (desirable)
Hours
10 hours per week.
