The Role & Key Responsibilities
URM is currently seeking to recruit a confident and self-motivated individual who will provide support and resilience to our Data Protection Team. You will have experience handling sensitive personal data and experience in redaction with good close attention to detail and have the ability to coordinate and manage your own workload within deadlines while working in an independent proactive multi-tasking way.
In this role, you will be initially primarily managing and dealing with data subject access requests, playing a crucial role in ensuring clients meet their obligations under the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You will be responsible for redacting client DSARs, applying appropriate exemptions and ensuing the process is completed in a timely fashion as part of URM’s DSAR redaction process.
You will also have a responsibility for supporting the wider DP team with client engagements, including policy and process development, and responding to client queries.
Key Skills
· A methodical approach to process subject access requests for disclosure
· Responsibility and to ensure that all cases are prioritised to comply with the strict deadlines
· Great attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
· When making editing judgments take into account third party details, sensitive information, operational procedures, legal exemptions and the risk of repercussions in disclosing the information.
· Good knowledge of relevant legislation obligations for disclosure and data handling
· Proven and well-evidenced ability to influence and create good relationships with people
· Excellent planning and organising skills and a proven ability to work under pressure, dealing with conflicting demands in order to meet agreed deadlines
· Experience in dealing with situations / deviations from normal office routine and the ability to problem solve and provide suggested resolutions quickly and effectively in order to mitigate risks or maximise opportunities.
· Good understanding of the principles of information disclosure processes and the various legislative requirements.
· Good understanding of business processes in organisations, particularly as these relate to information and knowledge
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Enthusiastic and a proactive approach
· Self-motivation, initiative, determination and tenacity
· A cool head and be the ability to work under pressure
· A flexible working attitude.
Skills
You should be able to provide specialist advice and guidance which promote best practice and learning. You should also have knowledge of the following specialist areas:
- DPA & GDPR data subject rights including subject access requests
- Disclosure advice
- DPA & GDPR advice, casework and breach investigations
- Transparency
- Freedom of Information (ideal)
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Location
Depending on your location this role will be predominantly working from home.

Salary: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
