This engaging role within BA’s Business Resilience team works to ensure that we effectively plan for and respond to major incidents across the company. Key to this role is building effective internal and external relationships across the airline and with key collaborators and partners to ensure best practices in resilience are implemented across a range of projects, and the evolving contingency, business continuity and disaster recovery planning environment. The role is rresponsible for developing and implementing the corporate policies and procedures that ensure the recovery, security and integrity of company data, information systems and technology in the event of disruption.


Key accountabilities include:

  • Define IT resilience strategies based on the results of the business impact analysis and risk assessments
  • Review and propose architecture designs and develop Disaster Recovery strategies based on the availability and RTO needs
  • Identification and evaluation of risks that could impact in the availability of applications
  • Develop and document Disaster Recovery Plans (detailed documentation of how to recover the application based on previous identified risks; escalation process).
  • Design and revision of IT architectures (cloud and on premise). Focusing on availability, redundancy and disaster recovery possibilities.
  • Design, implement and exercise business continuity systems and processes; working with business stakeholders to identify and document critical business impacts, recovery plans and priorities of organisational readiness, ensuring recovery plans are fit for purpose
  • Implementation of frameworks IT Disaster Recovery and Resilience Governance to align to the Group Resilience Strategy
  • Influence senior management across directorates to advocate best practice in resilience functions and approach
  • Lead on the logistics of the corporate exercise programme, playing a lead role to practice a range of scenarios and ensure the team and process are in a state of readiness
  • Lead Disaster Recovery projects/ programs as project manager or business owner
  • Become an SME in core resilience activities and provide guidance to BA colleagues
  • Identify areas of the Corporate Response that would benefit from a Continuous Improvement Review, ensuring that the objectives of the Business Plan and Policy are not compromised
  • Take part in the Business Resilience on call roster
  • Conduct & lead reviews of major business continuity activations and exercises for improvements to ensure any learning is incorporated into future planning
  • Represent the airline at industry and partner airline groups, striving to continually improve our response capabilities and partnerships
  • Ensure training, checklists and activations are evolved, exercised and supported, integrating into the wider Incident Management Framework
