Who we are:
Making A Difference provides short breaks in the community and family support for children and young people with disabilities and/or behaviours that challenge. This is a service for families that delivers both stimulating activities and support to children and young people in the community and at home so parents can take a break from their caring role.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for an individual to support a young man with Autism, Learning Disabilities and Epilepsy. He is 20 years old but due to his disabilities he presents as a three year old. He is verbal and can fully understand everyone. He can also understand Makaton however doesn’t use it himself. This is a 2-1 so you would be working alongside one of his key workers.
You would be responsible for helping him to get ready in the mornings and then would be going out in the community for the rest of the day. This could involve going to the beach, cinema, bowling, Bluewater shopping centre and more. Expenses and Mileage are paid.
The hours:
Term Time: Monday – Friday 8am-4pm
Half Term: Monday – Friday 9am-4pm
We would consider someone who wanted 2-3 days per week if all 5 were not possible.
We do also have a need for 4pm-8pm’s Monday-Sunday supporting the same lad in his home with his evening routine so the ideal candidate would be able to pick up a couple of these per week too.
