General Description

Niagara County Community College (NCCC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our institution as the Director of Student Success Center. As the Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the academic, personal, and professional growth of our students. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of dedicated professionals and help shape the future of students at our institution.
As a member of the Student Services leadership team this position will be responsible for providing leadership and management to a unit that includes the following functions: Career Services (Career Planning, Student Employment), Transfer Services (Transfer Articulation, Dual Admissions), Student Case Management, Placement Testing, SOT, CLEP, Veteran Services and Accessibility Services. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Student Services.

Typical Work Activities
- Provide vision and leadership for student case management, advisement and registration processes and other services within the department.
- Carries out and continually improves a systematic and results-directed registration and retention plan as a key component of the College’s comprehensive plan.
- Works collaboratively for enhancement of student support with other Student Services units and Academic Affairs relative to incoming student transition, registration, and retention strategies.
- Manages the conduct and resources of the new and continuing student advisement and associated activities for maximum registration of students for case management and retention.
- Collaborates with the Director of Admissions, Financial Aid, and Evening College in planning and managing shared enrollment initiatives.
- Serves on College committees and participates in such other institutional activities as planning, assessment and preparation of grants
- Plan and organize access to services for students at NFCI, as appropriate.
- Create, supervise and maintain career and transfer programs that increase student awareness of academic planning, career understanding and development, and transfer options.
- Collaborates with the Academic Affairs on development of new articulation agreements.
- Maintain transfer database so it reflects current articulation agreements on file for NCCC.
- Coordinate with Workforce Development to provide services to students and assist in creating scaffolding between credit and non-credit programs.
- Ensure that the College has current information regarding state and Federal laws and regulations as well as best practices concerning the rights of persons with disabilities.
- Responsible for creation and administration of the operating budget relative to the functions of the department.
- Train, supervise and evaluate professional and support staff.
- Develop and implement an annual plan for assessment that will include strategies to evaluate services and student learning outcomes..
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the VP of Student Services
Essential Functions
Ability to navigate relationships with diverse populations. Must be able to actively supervise numerous personnel and functions in different locations; must be able to maintain excellent working relationships among all components of student services; must be able to operate a computer, with emphasis on familiarity with Microsoft Office type software, in order to produce written reports; must be able to make presentations to groups.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
- Four (4) years of full time in the field of Student Services
- Experience supervising professional and support staff
- Evidence of progressive professional growth in the field. .
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience as an Assistant or Associate Director in a student services related area in higher education
- Experience planning and managing student advisement and registration processes
- Experience with student assessment methodologies
- Experience managing a budget
- Experience working in a community college setting or predominantly commuter type institution
- Experience working in accessibility services or career services areas.
