With inspiring interiors by Kelly Wearstler and culinary offerings in collaboration with McGuire Moorman Hospitality, Austin Proper offers 238 rooms and suites, a dedicated spa and fitness center, and 9,500 square feet of meeting and event spaces, including a rooftop pool deck offering small-batch tequilas and majestic lake views. Anything less just wouldn’t be Proper.
We are seeking a Director of Travel Industry Sales to join our team. This key role is responsible for maximizing sales revenue from the Corporate, Entertainment & Consortia segments as well as achieving & maintaining the department’s KPIs, tracking systems, databases, and reports. Our ideal candidate must represent the sales department both internally and externally in a professional manner in accordance with Austin Proper Hotel standards.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Meet required individual sales goals by maximizing revenue from Corporate, Entertainment & Consortia segments
- Meet KPIs as set by the Director of Sales and Marketing
- Produce regular sales productivity reports as requested
- Handle sales reservation requests, traces, and coordination
- Proactively solicit existing and new clients from designated market segments
- Maintain positive guest and client relations at all times
- Follow up on the progress of booked business and key account performance
- Assist in developing and executing the team’s projects to increase sales activity, volume, and profit
- Manage RFP submissions and tracking (including coordinating rate loading with the revenue department) for the Sales department
- Conduct sales trips, attend trade shows, site inspections, client entertainment, and FAMs as required
- Work with Events and Sales Teams to manage programing and execution
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing; identifying, and solving problems as necessary
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
Education and Qualifications
- 3 Years of experience in a Business/Leisure Travel Manager at a luxury hotel with a travel industry network
- 5 Years Hospitality experience
- College degree in Business, Hospitality, or related field preferred
- Experience in training, coaching or leadership
- Hotel experience required
- Knowledge of Delphi and HMS required
- Ability to enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point-of-sale systems
- Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor
- Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and have a high level of attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
