Mercury Hampton have been retained to headhunt a successful General Sales Manager / Head of Sales within the industrial process engineering solutions market due to succession planning.

This is a rare chance to work for an international OEM who sell into the industrial process sector and associated areas – oil and gas, petrochem, refineries, chemicals, food, water, energy and general industrial. You will be taking over an experienced team within a successful and growing company which has a lot of future potential. A visible leader with drive and gravitas will be key to take this business to the next level, pursuing maximum returns from established business and driving growth in new and emerging markets. You will be joining a progressive and engaged leadership team striving to be the best in their market.

The successful Sales Director / Head of Sales role:
You will be responsible for all aspects of the sales and marketing, from strategic direction and 5 year plans regarding new / emerging markets and growth, to day to day activity management, setting KPI’s, hiring, training etc. You will provide leadership to shape the future culture and behaviours which will enable you and your team to achieve the required success and long term growth.
  • Manage a team of direct reports comprised of Area Sales Managers, Internal Sales Engineers, Marketing and supporting staff
  • Report to the Managing Director with P&L responsibility
  • Grow the UK market revenue in line with company objectives
  • Pursue new market growth activities to develop new and emerging markets
  • Represent the company in local & international industry events
  • Build relationships with internal & external stakeholders
  • Liaise with all company departments to provide input on best practice and improvements to ensure the business can deliver against sales targets
You will need:
  • Engineering background: an understanding of the following products will be beneficial but not necessary - valves, pumps, seals, actuators, instrumentation, compressors, gears, motors
  • 5 years or more of sales leadership / people management experience
  • North West based – Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton
  • Willing to occasionally travel in the UK and abroad
