Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with the executive team to develop the company's research and development strategy.
· Define the vision, goals, and milestones for the R&D department, aligning them with the overall business objectives.
· Lead the design and implementation of research programs that align with the company's therapeutic focus areas.
· Develop and refine research methodologies, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
· Recruit, onboard, and manage a team of scientists and researchers.
· Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, nurturing talent and providing guidance to drive exceptional performance.
· Establish partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry experts to leverage their expertise, resources, and technologies.
· Collaborate closely with external stakeholders to foster research collaborations and stay abreast of emerging scientific trends.
· Identify and pursue opportunities for research funding, including grants and partnerships with public and private organizations.
· Prepare compelling proposals and grant applications to secure necessary funding for research initiatives.
· Stay updated on relevant regulatory guidelines and ensure compliance with ethical standards, good laboratory practices (GLP), and other applicable regulations.
· Collaborate with regulatory affairs professionals to navigate regulatory processes effectively.
Requirements:
· A Ph.D. or Masters in pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field.
· Proven experience in pharmaceutical research and development, preferably in a leadership role, with a focus on drug discovery and development.
· Familiarity with the startup ecosystem and experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment is advantageous.
· Strong leadership abilities with a strategic mindset and the ability to inspire and motivate a team in a startup environment.
· Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
· In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical research and development processes, including drug discovery, preclinical and clinical development, and regulatory requirements.
· Familiarity with emerging technologies and scientific advancements shaping the pharmaceutical industry.
· Resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable working in a startup environment with limited resources.
· Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage priorities, and drive results in a dynamic and rapidly evolving setting.
· Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and guidelines governing pharmaceutical research and development, including Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and ethical considerations.
