Commercial/Operations Director- Painting division- Norwich
Candidates need to have the appropriate background/experience within this sector
Our clients decorating division specialises in Painting, Fire, Construction, Landscaping and much more
Location: Predominantly office based in Norwich, but will need to attend meetings and carry out site visits, as and when required/necessary
Key Tasks
- Head up Commercial & Operations in the Norwich satellite office
- Liaison between directors and sales/operational managers
- Main filter for all tender/contract enquiries: log and investigate opportunities with the intention of increasing quoting opportunities, oversee client submissions and ensure follow up.
- Delivery of quality throughout the customer experience
- Work closely with Quantity Surveyors to price for works and complete tenders
- Work closely with Contracts Managers / Supervisors to ensure projects are completed to the highest standards.
- Build long term relationships with prospects, identify decision makers
- Investigate growth industries, prospecting
- Industry analysis of main contractors in our operation areas
- General ad-hoc duties
- Other such reasonable duties as instructed by the manager/director
Qualifications required:
- Must hold UK Driving License
- Must hold current CSCS Card
- HNC/HND Quantity Surveying
- RICS accredited undergraduate or postgraduate Quantity Surveying Degree or similar
Experience and knowledge:
- A proven record of success in senior level general or commercial management in the Painting and Decorating Sector.
- A wide knowledge of the industry.
- An understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques.
- An understanding of Quantity Surveying department.
- Political and presentational skills with an appreciation of the demands of conflicting interests and of meeting statutory requirements.
- A very high level of commercial awareness.
- In-depth knowledge of compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedure.
Attitude and skills:
- Mathematically numerate
- Be able to read/understand drawings & specifications
- Deadline driven
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc, with a knowledge of CAD desirable
- Must be flexible in their approach i.e. working hours
- Highly organised and professional in approach with a keen eye for detail
- Able to work under own initiative
- Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels both internally and externally
- Able to work calmly under pressure
- Hard working and reliable
- Strong communication skills
