Interim Operations Director
A critical role within the company as the business continues to evolve and grow to meet the strategic objectives of the Board and develop the opportunities available.
The Interim Operations Director will be responsible for ensuring that the Supply Chain Operation activities are structured and executed effectively, to ultimately ensure lowest cost to serve, the highest measures of efficiency can be gained; whilst maintaining a clear focus on sales and customer focused activities.

- With your considerable previous experience, you will deliver quality, service and innovation to both customers and suppliers ensuring the operations function is a credible internal business partner and a trusted third-party partner
- You will create operations strategies in line with the wider group strategy and will look to deliver an increase in profitability through the implementation of multiple, critical change programmes
- You will be heavily involved in developing and executing executing the UK operational processes
- You will be a member of the Management Board and recommend on strategic operational direction
Role specification:
- Effective performance management of the team in line with company strategy
- Develop succession plans, for critical roles within operations
- Ensure training and development is identified with action plans followed through
- To evaluate and plan staffing levels for all functions to achieve the goal
- Develop clear KPI’s to be presented to all levels of the business
- Be able to understand and report on the ability throughout the month to meet output targets
- Highlight any risks areas to the business
- Ensure a reliable and flexible supply base
- Proactively find ways to store assets keeping in line with company and group policy
- Implement strategy to minimise lead-times between actions
- Ensure that all members of the team can operate in a safe environment using appropriate material and manual handling techniques
- Identify most appropriate transport methods and routes, ensure plan is deployed
- To ensure shipping paperwork is maintained accurately and efficiently
- Provide strategic direction of the Supply Chain Operations function; a day to day customer service plan to balance these requirements, view of capacities and lead-times to support customers, provide priority lists to functions to ensure optimal performance
- Reduce inventory footprint, whilst supporting the customers
- To participate in the order acceptance process to guarantee customer OTD
- Support and aid in the ongoing development of the S&OP process
- Hold regular meetings to review outputs highlighting any gaps in supply or demand, and any risk to the annual business plan
- Develop mid to long term plans to develop effective distribution networks to support the changing business
Competencies and experience
- A degree in a Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Consumer, FMCG, E-Commerce or similar discipline
- 10 years’ post graduate experience in Supply Chain Operational Management from distribution and/or wholesale, stockist organisations
- An analytical mind with attention to detail and an ability to interpret data for robust decision making
- Experience of developing customer relationships and building collaborative forecasting processes
- ERP/MRP system experience & Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot-tables, macros)
- High degree of; commercial acumen, stakeholder management, strategic planning, decision making and contingency planning
- Be a coach and mentor to the function and wider business
- An excellent communicator and influencer at all levels of an organisation
Candidate background:
- Experienced within stockist/distribution global supply operations – Wholesale, Distribution, International Supply Chain and Distribution, Logistics, Supply Chain and Consumer Durables possibly wider
- End to End Supply Chain Operations Experience, Inventory Planning and Management, Global Supply Chain and Logistics
- Could be in a like for like role or have a wider breadth of experience such as a GM with multi-site / multi location challenges and who has run a large-scale operation or held a larger role as Supply Chain Manager, Supply Chain Director/Distribution Director with commercial P&L responsibility
- Commerciality, Creative, Engaging, Smart, Adaptability, Robust, People/Customer focused skilled supply chain operations professional
