Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Education is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to provide support to the Superintendent by tracking the agency’s performance on OKRs, strategic planning outcomes, and key project goals. This position will report all performance in weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for key stakeholders in the Governor’s office. In addition, the operations manager will track superintendent scheduling, coordinate cabinet support to event scheduling and ensure high visibility with stakeholders. Responsibilities include but not limited to: tracking logistics, communications, and supporting preparation for Superintendent including event briefings, talkers, and reporting of schedule; managing strategic communications with division superintendents, legislative and business stakeholders as well as oversee marketing strategy and coherence in messaging; and coordinating expectations of deputies and executive leadership team to ensure high execution of leadership teams within the organization.
Pursuant to Sections 2.2-3114 and 2.2-3115 of the Code of Virginia, the position of Director of Superintendents Office Operations has been designated to file by the Code of Virginia, an annual "Statement of Economic Interests" form.

Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to determine priorities of multiple issues and assign, refer, follow up and respond in a high-paced work environment.
- Considerable knowledge of project management, tracking of performance metrics, risk mitigation and reporting.
- Strong communications and ability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor strategic initiatives of VDOE and provide regular updates to the Superintendent, cabinet, Secretary and Governor’s office.
- Ability to create and maintain complex schedules as well as track meetings and develop meeting prep.
- Create and maintain talking points and briefings on critical education issues.
- Considerable knowledge of educational functions, services and operations, budget, and department mission and goals.
- Ability to plan logistics and event scheduling of large-scale events.
- Demonstrated ability to perform highly sensitive work to include quantitative and narrative reporting, policy interpretation and project implementation on behalf of an executive or executives at the highest levels of management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in business administration, public administration, education administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
- Experience in executive support, work flow analysis, project management, policy interpretation and application and fiscal processes. Prior experience as a senior advisor for a top education executive management officer is preferred.
