What does the Director of SEND & Inclusion do at Hillingdon?
The Director delivers a coordinated approach to ensuring SEND and Educational improvements/ outcomes are achieved across the borough, whilst providing strategic direction and leadership that encourages an environment of continuous improvement.
Working in collaboration with internal and external partners, this role will seek to forge long-term effective relationships that focus on putting residents at the heart of what we do. Raising standards and establishing quality benchmarks across the service, the Director fosters a culture of prevention and early intervention to mitigate future risks to the council, in accordance with our policies and strategic objectives.
About you
We’re looking for a thought leader who can evidence ‘hands on’ experience of guiding, motivating, and driving improvements across a SEND and/or Education function. With a successful track record of delivery within a senior management role, you’ll be able to demonstrate examples of embedding safeguarding practices and standards.
Displaying the knowledge and understanding of local and national policies, you'll have an overview of the ongoing changes across the SEND landscape, exhibiting a full understanding of the key challenges facing education, health, and social care for individuals with SEND.
Ultimately, you'll lead and manage change within the service working collaboratively with partners and providers to ensure education provision for children and young people with SEND meets the needs and demands of the borough.
