In a nutshell

We’re on an exciting journey to launch our EV Charging business. Our goal is to be at the forefront of rapid and reliable Electric Vehicle charging to help accelerate the transition to Electric Vehicles across the UK and to be most trusted EV Charge network, where customers love to re-charge & refresh.

As a Director of Product you’ll accountable for defining and shaping the Product strategy and digital ambition for our growing business. You’ll build and develop the Product team, galvanising the team to deliver this strategy, working collaboratively with the wider EV Charging team, and the Sainsbury’s Product team. This role is accountable for current and future technology direction for the whole digital estate for both software and hardware, anticipating changes in the rapidly growing EV charging industry.

As a senior member of the EV charging leadership team, you will contribute significantly to the overall strategic direction of the business, supporting peers and developing strong working relationships with colleagues across the team.


What you need to do

  • Own, define and shape the Product strategy for our growing business, which includes setting and delivering our product and technology strategy for our hardware, website, app, and potential strategic partnerships.
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of EV-Charging technology, prioritising work and making appropriate trade-offs to adapt to changing requirements / new learnings and delivering maximum value at pace. Communicate progress, proactively manage risk and issues, and remove blockers.
  • Select our third-party delivery partners, managing the ongoing relationship, monitoring delivery and progress and holding them to account.
  • Build and develop the Product team, providing outstanding leadership, drive, and galvanising the team behind a compelling Product vision and accompanying strategy.
  • Accountable for data governance and information security, working with the Sainsbury’s data governance teams to ensure our customers data is safe.
  • Own and prioritise the Product backlog, pivoting as required to deliver business outcomes within budget whilst maintaining a focus on delivering value at an increased cadence.
  • Define and secure capital budget though appropriate financial governance proves; own the benefit/investment cases(s) and PIR (post investment review) for EV-Charing Tech and manage allocated capital to execute the roadmap.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to communicate product direction, priorities, progress, etc. and lead the delivery of the product roadmap.

  • Proven product management track record, taking a customer outcome and turning it into a digital product.
  • Proven experience of innovating, shaping business plans and taking a concept through to execution.
