We have an opportunity for a Director of Operations to join their team of staff in the Senior Management department.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

This role supports the Executive Director and therefore candidates must have awareness of key responsibilities. The successful candidate will be accountable for the hospital administration team, the supply team at the hospital, the hospital engineers, housekeeping / porters team. The candidate will be heavily involved in landing key physical projects as well as understanding financial compliance. A key motivator of people is essential as well as a desire to progress not only themselves but their team.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Educated to degree level or postgraduate leadership and management qualification
  • Sound financial skills to be able to read and interpret financial data
  • Experience in Analysis, reporting and proposal development for capital assets and infrastructure investment
  • Experience in commercial contract management including property, funders of healthcare, NHS standard contracts
  • Knowledge of the service sector and the systems and processes used for revenue management and collection, debtors management
  • Proven ability in driving efficiency/ optimisation activities (utilisation, cost saving etc.), Telephony and IT network systems oversight
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements within hospital management
  • Experience in recruitment, selection and development of staff- team comprises c. 50 FTEs including mid level managers and leads as part of this team
  • At least two years experience in a healthcare setting and in a similar role advantageous

Duties of this role include:

  • Responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of support services within the hospital, providing leadership for the effective management of all non-clinical functions.
  • As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Operations Manager works with the Executive Director and Director of Clinical Services, to create and deliver the strategic, operational and business development plan for the hospital.
  • Work as part of the Senior Management Team and any relevant departments to maximise patient activity and increase revenue
  • Help identify business development opportunities such as new services and development of existing services
  • Contribute to the hospital’s business plan and support the managers and leads of departments responsible for to formulate departmental plans and objectives
  • Ensure delivery of NHS activity according to RTT 18 week protocols
