Job Title:
Director of logistics and warehouse operations
Job Profile:
This role will be responsible for:
Leading the Logistics and Warehouse operations; the Director of Logistics and Warehouse operations will be responsible for driving best practice, continuous improvement and end to end leadership across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:
- End to end leadership of Logistics and Warehouse function.
- Sound knowledge of Warehouse functions to include Shipping, Receiving, Inventory Management, Logistics, Trade Compliance, HSE, Facilities & Maintenance.
- Working closely with Internal teams to manage the inventory of finished goods at levels balanced against customer service needs and financial targets.
- Provide strategic leadership of all Warehouse and Logistics functions.
- Ensure all activities are carried out to appropriate regulatory standards as described by GDP, GMP, MHRA, EMEA etc.
- Exhibit a pro-active approach in co-ordinating with other functions and organisations as required in order to ensure timely resolution of material management, logistical, process and quality/compliance issues.
- Oversee improvement programmes involving operational functions.
- Continuously drive and deliver improvement across service, quality, safety and cost.
- Implement best practice warehouse management design to optimize space and maximize productivity.
- Ensuring the delivery of all SLAs and KPIs, identifying risks and rectifying performance where appropriate
- Creating structure and organisation through clear communication and standards in order to achieve operational targets.
- Support customer and regulatory audits/inspections, as required.
- Maintaining an awareness of new and proposed legislation that impacts the business and communicating any changes.
- Monitor, improve and sustain logistics and warehouse performances metrics to meet or exceed targets.
Leadership:
- Build and manage a high-performing, collaborative Logistics and Warehouse team that works in line with the Group’s values at all times
- Ensure the appropriate level of resource and expertise is in place and that this is structured in the most effective way to deliver the strategy.
- Ensure that the team have clear objectives in place and that they understand how these relate to the KPIs and the divisional and Group level strategy
- Ensure all team members have development plans in place and regularly reviewed
- Provide regular feedback to direct reports. Proactively address underperformance
- Ensure effective communication of key messages to the team from across the Group
- Identify top talent and ensure there is a plan in place to retain them, keep them engaged and maximize their potential
- Recognize and celebrate success on a team and individual level
REQUIREMENTS
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Strong Leadership experience in a Distribution environment with extensive pharmaceutical experience.
- 10 years + experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable experience of import and export practices
- Knowledge of applicable pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging processes including Solid, Liquid, Cream, Steriles, Antibiotics, Devices and Biopharms.
- Significant experience of leading large teams across multiple sites; Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead, coach and mentor colleagues of all levels
- Experience of operating at a senior level with international responsibility.
- Experience of developing and successfully implementing strategic plans.
- Experience in clinical trial labelling, supplies, logistics & distribution an advantage.
- Oracle ERP, Microsoft Office Suite, APICS Certification desired.
- Robust financial management and analytical skills
- Flexibility and responsiveness to change, with the ability to lead others in a dynamic environment
- Ability to analyse and conclude; ability to apply Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies
