Restaurant - The Grand, York
Contract: Full Time
Salary: £50,000
The Grand is York’s only five-star hotel, built in 1906 and standing proudly as a hotel since 2010, we are a beacon of hospitality excellence. We are honoured to hold the highly commendable industry accolade of the 2022 Catey, Hotel of the Year. Located within York’s city walls and with views of York Minster, the hotel holds an enviable and proud position in the city and local community. Once the famed Headquarters of the North-eastern Railway Company, our magnificent building is bursting with original features and all the grandeur of its former life as the “Palace of Business” - making it a truly beautiful and inspiring place to work and grow.
Along with our 207 guest bedrooms, we boast an award-winning rosette restaurant, The Rise and hold the Conde Naste 2022 award for Best Afternoon Tea. We recently opened our new fine dining restaurant, Legacy, which provides the opportunity to elevate our dining offering and become leaders in the York food scene. We have a state-of-the-art Cookery School, are home to an atmospheric Spa, stunning Meeting and Event spaces and an In-Room Dining offering. Each day is unique and memorable at The Grand and we live to create special memories for our guests and our team.

Job Description
Every Guest experience at The Grand, York is special. We have a real passion for delivering fantastic service and offering exceptional, unforgettable Food and Beverage at all levels of the hotel. As Food & Beverage Director, you would be overseeing all operational aspects of the Food and Beverage offering at The Grand, ensuring we are delivering a consistent first-class guest experience.
We are looking for an experienced and creative leader with enthusiasm and charisma, who leads by example, engages, motivates, and inspires others to produce excellence in every area of the department.
Key responsibilities and experience required for your role:
- Ownership for the overall management of the service aspect of the Food & Beverage department.
- Responsibility for the commercial success of the Food & Beverage department
- Exceptional standards and Guest service focus
- A minimum of two years experience within a five star, luxury hotel
- An inherent drive to train and develop a high-quality team
- Strong team management and leadership qualities
- Good IT skills including Micros, Excel & Word
- Experience of managing large teams

Role in our Family
- Take ownership of the food and beverage budget and payroll.
- Project manage in collaboration with leadership, a critical pathway for any F&B projects.
- Set departmental targets and objectives, rotas, budgets, policies and procedures.
- Be an active member of the Senior Leadership team, working collaboratively with other functions to the benefit of the hotel.
- Promote collaboration with the operational team to enhance the guest experience.
- Ensure exceptional standards and Guest service focus.
- A minimum of two years in a senior role within a luxury hotel.
- An inherent drive to train and develop a high-quality team.
- Strong people management and leadership qualities.
- Experience of managing large teams
