Severn Wye is looking for a dynamic Director of Energy Services. You will lead and develop Severn Wye’s ambitious programme of energy efficiency, energy generation and carbon capture programmes to support our goal of tackling climate change. You will have demonstrable experience of strategic leadership in the energy sector and a passion for energy efficiency in domestic and non-domestic settings. The Director of Energy Services is responsible for the delivery of existing and new domestic and non-domestic energy efficiency and generation programmes to achieve the targets set out in Severn Wye’s strategic plan. The role will oversee delivery of government and commercial domestic retrofit programmes. The role oversees the Severn Wye non-domestic consultancy programme offering energy efficiency and net zero advice and management for business, community and local authority clients. Development of new services and markets is key to grow Severn Wye’s impact on the climate and fuel poverty. The role also oversees the Energy Innovation team developing new carbon capture and energy generation technologies and bringing them to market.
The role will ensure the highest technical standards of work and ensure the team are supported to provide the highest quality of services to our customers.
The role will promote Severn Wye projects and vision and will work with the Head of Fundraising to secure funding for Severn Wye priorities and projects.
The role is part of the Senior Leadership team and responsible for the leadership of the organisation as a whole.
Salary: £43,260.00 – £51,500.00 pro rata
Summary of Role
- The Director of Energy Services is responsible for the successful delivery of departmental programmes ensuring all projects are delivered on time, on target and to the highest technical standards.
- Provide leadership to motivate, inspirate and support the people working within the Energy Services teams and across the organisation to embed our culture and ways of working.
- Work with local, regional, national, and international stakeholders, to develop new programmes in line with the strategy.
- Promote the programmes, their impacts and share the learning from our delivery across key stakeholders from all sectors.
- Work with the Director of Finance to ensure the programme is delivered on budget and projects are commercially viable.
- Ensure all staff within the department have the training, qualifications, support and clear expectations to deliver the programme of work.
- Work with the Head of Fundraising to ensure the programme of work is fully funded
- Work with the Head of Communications to ensure sales targets are achieved.
- Ensuring quality delivery in line with any statutory requirements and our policies / procedures.
- Work with the CEO and Leadership team to develop and deliver organisational strategy and ensure good team working and communication.
- Work with the leadership team to develop and deliver effective policies and procedures to meet our statutory and quality standards.
Essential requirements:
- 5 years Management experience working in the Energy sector including at least one of the following areas:- Sustainable Energy generation, Domestic retrofit, non-domestic energy consultancy or net zero.
- A relevant degree or qualification or where relevant professional accreditations.
- Enthusiasm and commitment to environmental and social welfare objectives.
- Experience of financial management of projects/teams exceeding £500,000.
- Experience of managing and leadership of a team of staff.
- Experience of building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
- Demonstrable commitment to building a constructive, equal, diverse and inclusive organisation culture.
- Experience and commitment to staff wellbeing, mentoring, training and development as well as mental and physical health and wellbeing.
- Experience of developing and submitting successful bids or tenders exceeding £100,000.
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrable commitment to professional development and learning.
- Understanding of the third sector and the policy context within which Severn Wye
- Driving licence and access to a car to use.
