Leading International NGO are looking to recruit a Director of Corporate Finance & Treasury candidate on a permanent basis. This could be the ideal job for you if you are able to hit the ground running with recent experience managing large accounting teams, delivering year-end / audit, & managing accounting services.

Job Description

  • Oversee the preparation of the consolidated financial accounts to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time.
  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial accounts for the different entities within the international and worldwide organisations
  • Oversee National Organisation's financial returns and permanent files.
  • Support the team to manage and deliver external audit and compliance services (including US Government Audits and US Tax Filing for PII).
  • Oversee delivery and management of internal audit programmes, ensuring compliant completion of all audit requirements.
  • Identify improvements to the internal process to support audits, working with the Director of Finance Transformation and Continuous Improvement on larger-scale changes
  • Establish and maintain an internal Financial Controls Framework that can be adopted across Global Hub, regions and countries, working with the Director of Global Programmes and Operation Finance.
  • Establish and agree key control and compliance targets and KPIs (against sector benchmarks) for GH to optimise functional performance in line with the corporate objectives.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for core Finance & Treasury Systems (SAP and BPC being the primary systems), and work with IT function leadership to manage these.
  • Develop and share understanding of direct and indirect tax policies and requirements, working to build capability across teams.
  • Provide support to manage tax disclosures in the countries in which we operate.
  • Oversee management and delivery of US Tax disclosures.
  • Maintain the organisations Treasury policies, processes, and reporting conventions to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Manage Financial Market Risk across the organisation, including leading analysis of worldwide currently risk, and delivery of exposure reduction mechanisms via natural or bank hedging.
  • Develop and nurture strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders across the Finance function and with core partners, including global banks.
  • Monitor accounting standard changes (such as IFRS, US GAAP) and ensure capability requirements are articulated and delivered alongside Director of Finance Transformation & Continuous improvement.
  • Identify and support delivery of key capability improvement progammes for financial and non-financial core accounting methods to improve organisation's financial literacy.
  • Provide key input into optimisation initiative across Finance to prepare us for the implementation of Dynamics 365 ERP
  • Contribute to the design and development of new strategic initiatives, and support business change activities across the Directorate.
  • Provide input and support into the ERP implementation.

The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAEW or recognised equivalent).
  • Large-scale accounting services/corporate finance delivery, including management of complex intercompany accounting processes and procedures.
  • Expert understanding of financial accounting principles, approaches, and tools.
  • Strong understanding of global reporting processes and requirements, with a specific focus on regulatory compliance reporting across major geographies (such as the USA).
  • Strong technical financial instrument knowledge and analytical skills and be well-versed in internal and external audit processes.
  • Strong understanding of financial risk management and ability to develop and implement mitigations.
  • Strong understanding of control and compliance frameworks, methodologies, and tools, with an ability to roll them out across geographies.
  • Have strong relationship and negotiation skills to be able to be the external face of the organisation to its bankers and negotiate favourable terms.
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale strategy, transformation and change projects simultaneously.
  • Communication skills, tailored to the audiences with whom you will work - including external stakeholders, and global, regional, and local teams.
  • Strong negotiating, facilitating, and influencing skills to support delivery of initiatives.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, advocacy and communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders and bring the best out of teams.
  • Possess the capabilities needed to deliver effective solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Knowledge and experience of using any/all of the following would be an added value:
    • SAP ERP systems
    • Power BI
    • Dynamics 365
  • Breadth of financial experience within an INGO (ideally with both humanitarian and development focus) or non-profit sectors and audit practice.
  • Experience of leading or managing a Treasury function within a large organisation.
  • Experience of working at a similar level within an INGO would be an advantage but we are receptive to experience from other sectors.
  • Understanding of INGO funding streams would be an advantage.
  • Breadth of financial experience, ideally with an INGO or not-for-profit sector organisation. Experience of working in countries delivering development programmes would be a significant advantage.
  • MBA is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Additional languages advantageous
