THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking to recruit an experienced energy asset management leader to take responsibility for our expanding portfolio of over 1.2GW battery energy storage assets, and a fleet of electric vehicles expected to grow to over 3000 units by 2025, as well as the associated balance of plant and charging infrastructure worldwide. The Director of Asset Management will directly manage this portfolio of assets from a commercial, financial and technical point of view.

Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, this role will be at the heart of realising the success of this portfolio by leading a team and working with key stakeholders to enhance the overall returns and value of each project and comply with all of the applicable contractual agreements, whilst maintaining best practice for safety, quality and environmental performance.

The Director of Asset Management will be responsible for contract management and general commercial management of projects and ensuring that our service providers perform fully and in line with our contractual arrangements with them. They will also develop and maintain relationships with investors, local partners, landowners and other stakeholders.


A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY

  • Establish an Asset Maintenance team and lead O&M strategy to proactively manage asset performance and minimise down time
  • Lead and manage the Asset Management team and manage the recruitment, development and retention of personnel in the UK and developing markets including Australia and the US
  • Implement best practice asset management in the portfolio, working closely with functional teams across the business to optimise long-term commercial and technical performance
  • Own business plans, budgets, capital projects and other initiatives on existing assets
  • Manage customer relationships to ensure delivery of customer SLAs, high levels of customer satisfaction and Zenobe’s reputation in each market
  • Manage data analytics from assets and sites to enable predictive maintenance, lower operating costs, improve asset uptime and ensure compliance with asset warranty conditions
  • Manage contractor performance during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including disputes, with a view to ensuring all contracted SLA's are met or bettered
  • Ensure compliance across the portfolio with HSE, local planning authority requirements, Grid company connection conditions, financing requirements, power purchase and route to market agreements, regulation and company policy
  • Manage and ensure both commercial and technical compliance with all contracts, warranties, and agreements
  • Ensure portfolio risks and issues are managed, mitigated and reported appropriately
  • Manage and create accurate and timely stakeholder reporting, including reporting to investors, lenders and internal stakeholders.
  • Be proactive in identifying value accretive opportunities on existing assets
  • Build and maintain relationships with all parties involved in project development and construction to ensure lowest total lifecycle cost
  • Work alongside the legal and delivery team on due diligence for acquisitions and disposals
  • Ensure learnings on asset performance are captured and fed back into the business
  • Lead on the Asset Management ISO workstream (55000)

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Essential experience:

  • More than 10 years’ experience of asset management and O&M of battery energy storage or renewable energy assets
  • Knowledge of UK grid codes, energy market rules, and compliance requirements
  • A passion for HSE and a good awareness of HSE legislation and standards
  • Commercially excellent - with ability to spot what matters and bring clarity to efforts in the team
  • Strong contractual and stakeholder management expertise
  • Sound working knowledge of project finance (e.g. asset reporting requirements, covenants, ratio tests) and financial reporting.
  • A recognised Engineering Qualification at Degree level or equivalent financial / technical demonstrable experience.

  • Strong organisation skills, team player and good attention to detail

Desirable competencies:

  • Knowledge of US and Australia energy markets
  • Chartered member of the Institute of Asset Management
