Job description
The Director of Alliances will be responsible for the development and delivery of British Airways’ alliance relationships, leading and inspiring a team of 12 to drive partnership strategy and implementation of airline joint business arrangements.
A skilled communicator, you'll use your airline expertise to build successful, high profile relationships at the most senior levels across our partner airlines to optimise and grow the revenue portfolio.
About the role
- Leads the creation of our partnership strategy that supports our business plan
- Delivery of a complex portfolio of partner projects across multiple airlines
- Implements new codeshare agreements, optimises existing relationships, to expand the BA network around the world
- Represents BA in existing joint businesses, and coordinating cross-functional projects and initiatives, ensuring value creation within the joint business
- Customer/commercial performance optimisation of our joint businesses and franchises
- Develops and delivers all BA’s airline partner initiatives across a portfolio of 20+ partner airlines
- Defines and represents BA’s needs at Oneworld and drive initiatives forward internally to delivery
- Identifies, negotiates and implements new joint business arrangements.
- Works with IAG and other IAG OpCo’s to develop optimal partnership solutions across the Group
- Develops effective reporting for performance measurement and analysis of the partnership portfolio
- Ensures airline partner developments are implemented and consistently delivered post-launch
About you
- Extensive commercial background acquired through one or more roles in a similar field
- Understanding of airline partnership relationships from interline to codeshare, alliances, joint businesses and franchise agreements
- Able to deliver complex programmes with the ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands
- Experience negotiating large/complex commercial agreements
- Experience balancing multiple parties and leading large cross-functional teams
- Excellent relationship-building skills; ability to influence, negotiate, present and articulate clearly up to CEO level
- Analytical: able to understand and react to multiple complex data sources. Making sound decisions based on facts, analysis and relevant experience.
