Position Summary
The Director of Information Technology will ensure all technology needs of the organization are met. This position will provide strategic leadership on projects, direct the team’s efforts towards successful completion while meeting organizational goals along the way.
Duties and responsibilities
- Oversees IT operations
- Leads team of IT staff
- Designs and implements IT strategies and infrastructure
- Identifies and eliminates security risks
- Analyzes business requirements for IT needs and systems.
- Evaluates IT operations with regard to established goals.
- Communicates within IT team and across departments as needed.
- Assesses need for new equipment and software.
- Prepares progress and budget reports for upper management.
- Hires new members of IT staff.
- Builds and maintains relationships with outside vendors.
- Manages company help desk.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Monitors and reports progress on development projects, resource utilization, and production performance to executive leadership
- Ensures the integrity and reliability of computerized information systems, communication systems, and office systems including the security of data acquired and stored
- Establishes, directs, and collaborates with cross functional departments including HR on all IT employee training for software, hardware, and remote connectivity
- Maintains pace with technological progress, economic change, and company needs by directing continual improvements of IS staff, equipment, and procedures
- Prepares, implements, and executes IS budget
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field
- Minimum 8 years’ experience working in IT operations
- Minimum 3 years’ experience overseeing IT teams and projects
- Proven experience as IT director or similar role
- Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
- Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
- Experience in controlling information technology budget
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Outstanding communication abilities
- Thorough understanding of IS policies and procedures
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies (ideally leading kaizen events or Six Sigma projects)
- Experience in architecting and migrating from on premise infrastructure to cloud environment
- Experience in the landscape industry
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Work Environment
This position is exposed to normal office conditions. Long periods of sitting and computer use may be required. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs occasionally. Manual wrist and finger dexterity required. Day travel may be necessary to other Branch locations. Noise levels in the work environment are moderate.
