Background/IRC Summary
The Gender Equality Diversity & Inclusion (GEDI) Unit is a strategic unit and organizational change lever responsible for developing a GEDI vision and strategy for the IRC. The Unit establish IRC's approach to Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, and support IRC departments to deliver on the DEI Strategy and the GEDI Action Plan ambitions.
Job Overview/Summary:
You will partner with the Chief GEDI Officer to devise organizational strategy and tactics to ensure effective implementation of the IRC GEDI strategy. You will work across IRC global functions and departments challenging existing paradigms to ensure that feminist principles are embedded in our internal policies, operational process and in our influencing effort. You will partner with the Chief GEDI officer to build and manage a highly effective team, modeling collaborative intra- and inter-departmental working relationships. You will be a visible and inspiring intersectional feminist leader and anti-racism champion that support implementation of strategies that enable change at global systemic level for women girls and historically marginalized staff and clients.
Position Reports to Chief Gender Equality, Diversity & Inclusion officer
Main responsibilities:
  • Ensure feminist principles and practices are rooted in GEDI action plan implementation strategies and our broader organizational strategies to improve impact with a focus on our commitment to women and girls.
  • Collaborate with and provide support to people and culture and department leaders to identify best strategies and practices to advance GEDI goal in their respective area this includes Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits, learning and leadership development, Well-being, safety and security, operations.
  • Support the Chief GEDI Officer in defining and implementing key initiatives from annual Delivery Letters and leading on global initiatives.
  • Partner with External Relations department to develop and drive external engagement agenda and the IRC contribution to key debates in humanitarian GEDI-related policy and practices.
  • Maintain an updated understanding of the industry and relevant sector practices, and lead internal knowledge management and learning to inform our approach and delivery strategies.
  • Provide technical support to IRC HQ teams in developing and leading activities to strengthen inclusion and belonging for staff.

Work Experience:
  • Minimum 8 - 10 years in leading organizational Gender equality and D&I strategy at a global scale, requiring cross-departmental collaboration to deliver high-reaching goals.
  • Track record of leading and influencing global organizational efforts to adopt an intersectional feminist approach as core to all policy and operational processes.
  • Experience leading and supporting change through influence.
  • Strategy and problem-solving experience accurately diagnosing business challenges, and devising, effective solutions with timely and efficient performance metrics.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
  • Deep dedication to and knowledge of strategies to advance Gender equality and inclusion in the workplace;
  • Outstanding cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills
  • Understanding of how power dynamics affect organizations and ability to amplify the voices of individuals from under-represented groups
  • Highly versatile and flexible, with a high degree of comfort in changing and refining priorities and results.
  • Team leadership

Compensation:
Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
