POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you passionate about the intersection of cloud computing and IoT? Can you architect unique, cutting-edge solutions that combine IoT best engineering practices across different verticals such as Smart Building, Physical Security, Hospitality, Education, and Health? Do you have deep technical knowledge, business acumen and strong interpersonal skills? The ideal candidate will have experience architecting and developing IOT (embedded, app, cloud) products, and must be able to communicate on a technical level with engineers and developers from all three disciplines. The role also requires an understanding of AI/ML especially in vision, sensor and voice applications.
Due to continued growth of the businesses, a new position of Director of Engineering (DE) has been created within IPVideo Corporation, a subsidiary of ACG. This critical new position will report directly into the VP of Operations and will provide leadership in all aspects of technology development.
The DE will oversee all aspects of new technology development, from technology readiness assessment and advanced development to product, system, and solution design. The DE will be the driving force for introduction and implementation of new technologies into ACG’s systems and products. Since new technology is the growth engine for the ACG, business acumen as well as engineering skill and experience are vital requirements. The DE is expected to prioritize and accelerate the innovation agenda internally and through alliances and partnerships.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Working closely with the executive leadership team and key partners, the DE will create a robust and actionable technology strategy driving the long-term new product/solution roadmap.
- Lead Disruptive Innovation activities to cultivate a dedicated process focused on breakthrough innovation.
- Identify and foster key alliances with academic institutions, outside laboratories, partner companies and suppliers to enhance the advanced technology thinking and capabilities of the business.
- Partner with business leaders, the product management team, and customers, to ensure that breakthrough technology drives new product roadmaps for long term competitive advantage.
- Partner with the operations team to ensure that new technology results in new products that are designed cost effectively and for manufacturability.
- Conceptualize, implement, and manage an innovation review process to support periodic business reviews.
- Work closely in support of our team software developers, hardware engineers and mechanical designers.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Chemistry AND a master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science from leading academic institutions.
- 10+ years’ work experience in advanced technology and systems architecture.
- Broad technical experience and understanding of Cyber Security, contemporary microcontroller technology, low current design, DFMA, IOT Connectivity Protocols (NFC, LoRa Wan, Wi-Fi, MQTT, AMQP, Zigbee, Bluetooth, WebSocket, etc.) HW development tools and SW DevOps.
- Deep technical experience of IoT systems including physical/chemical/acoustic/optical sensing, communications standards and protocols, High Reliability/Low latency Cloud services, Electronics design, wireless systems, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.
- Experience in cloud-native architectures and the major service providers.
- Adept with Agile methodology and delivery methods and use of tools like Azure DevOps and JIRA.
- Experience working in companies that derive revenue from both services and products/solutions sales.
- Effectiveness in working across teams to define and manage work activities and to manage multiple projects in parallel operating in various phases of execution
- Critical thinking, executive presentation and to be able to consult on a wide variety of business functions.
- Professionally active in societies, professional associations, and networks.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, to drive change and to collaborate and influence cross-functionally.
