Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Health and Safety Advisor to join our fast paced and agile Regional Health and Safety team. Working as part of the Southeast Region Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting our customer base across the Southeast.
Providing health and safety advice and support to the DIO’s hard and soft facilities management teams, our advisors are involved in incident reporting and investigation, conducting audits and assurance exercises, attending meetings, and delivering familiarisation training, as well as providing guidance and mentorship.
Through proactive engagement, we seek to monitor and develop DIO’s systems and culture to ensure compliance and positive health and safety behaviours across the organisation, our suppliers and service providers. Want to make a difference? Come and join our team!

Person specification
Providing professional advice and guidance to facilities management personnel across your estate.
Actively promoting incident reporting across all activities and projects.
Supporting and mentoring site teams in investigating incidents and identifying causes and recommendations.
Advising and monitoring site teams in taking appropriate and timely action.
Liaising with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate procedures and standards are implemented to safeguard personnel, protect assets, and ensure compliance.
Coaching and mentoring personnel to address poor performance and secure positive behaviours.
Undertaking safety tours, audits, and inspections.
Proactively engaging with our customers to identify and support appropriate health and safety training, delivering input where necessary.
Engaging with relevant key stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop policy, procedures, and other supporting material.

Presentation / Desk Based Scenario
Deliver a 5-minute presentation allowing one minute for questions on the following subject:
Outline your strategy for engaging and supporting customers in the reporting and investigation of health and safety incidents and accidents. Please ensure you outline the key considerations and what the client’s duties will be.
Your presentation must be supported with no more than 5 PowerPoint slides, excluding the title page.
You may use speaker notes, but these must also be forwarded with your PowerPoint slides.
The presentation and any speaker notes you refer to must be forwarded to the interview panel no later than 1200 hours the day before your interview is scheduled to take place.

Briefing paper
Produce a top-level briefing paper of no more than 200 words for your estates management team explaining:
What strategy was in place for managing legionella in the water systems across their premises during the covid pandemic.
Bear in mind that more than 85% of staff were at the time working from home.
In your paper you should outline how activities and any changes were communicated across the estate – use your imagination!
A discussion will be undertaken between you and the interview panel, referring to this briefing paper.
This is expected to last no longer than 10 minutes.
Your briefing paper must be forwarded to the interview panel no later than 1200 hours the day before your interview is scheduled to take place.
We want to offer opportunities to all who are successful at interview for our roles, but this isn't always possible, so we do hold candidates on an active reserve list for 12 months. It is also possible that we may offer similar lower graded role/s to reserve candidates or, if no reserves are appointed, candidates that meet the lower grade criteria in merit order.
