Our Role

The White Company is looking for an experienced, Digital Trading Assistant Manager to ensure the website reflects and enhances The White Company brand values. As the assistant manager you will be responsible for deputising for the senior trading manager when absent, whilst managing a digital administrator/coordinator.

The role will be responsible for maintaining excellent site standards, delivering the operating sales plan numbers, ensuring that launches/campaigns are interpreted and executed online and understanding product to maximise sales. You will oversee all product categories, improving revenue performance using insight from call centres, testing and web analytics. Having an awareness and communication of relevant competitor activity.


What you’ll be doing

Trading

  • Ensuring product launches and launches are delivered on time.
  • For each key campaign/seasonal launch, ensuring the Buying & Merchandising category strategy is reflected online, appropriately influencing where the online experience may differ slightly.
  • Identifying and investigate struggling areas and provide clear action plans.
  • Having an awareness of online shopping and competitive market within product/category areas, feeding back your findings where necessary.
  • Monitoring and analysing customer behaviour on the site and taking action accordingly.
  • Ensuring product pages are optimised by rankings and other factors to aid customer experience
  • Driving AOV via cross sell opportunities, optimising Optimizely recommendations– and suggesting improvements.
  • Improving conversion via implementation of USP’s and optimum availability.
  • Ensure good stock availability for products featured in assets used in email/homepage
  • Constant probing on availability issues and where web availability falls below target and impacts demand. Ensuring customers are not placing back orders on products over long periods of time, taking necessary action.
  • Creating Lessons Learnt/PIR’s for launches and campaigns, sharing your findings and recommendations with B&M, H of T and wider Direct team.
  • Ensuring Marketing/Social media teams have visibility of key trading priorities and can collaboratively work together to drive sales and conversion.
  • Conducting seasonal store visits to ensure learnings can be shared, priorities are aligned, and the online experience enforces the brand message in stores. (UK only)
  • Creating weekly trade reports for Multichannel teams and wider audiences.
  • Reviewing stock and updates and best actions on lines that constantly are failing in search.
  • Involvement in CI/Development roadmap knowledge. Once identifying both trends and issues, flagging to get on backlog.
  • Being joined up with marketing for seasons.
  • Monitoring and be involved with Trading Manager on voice of customer trends.
  • Involvement in sharing seasonal launches with B&M and Heads of.
  • Conducting changes to the site based on analysis – e.g. content square and peer group reviews around pages (e.g. CLP design)
  • Be the campaign lead on key events during the season…eg. Home event etc…

Daily running of site

  • Ensuring the customer journey is logical for ease of shopping using all available sources, including contact centre, web analytics, site standards feedback.
  • Analysing entry and exit pages and bounce rates, recommending suggestions to improve to include content square (be the lead in the team on content square)
  • Briefing in seasonal campaign changes to content/production team in a timely fashion and signing off the product.
  • Building strong relationships between the Trading, Content and Marketing teams ensuring that each of the strategies are developed in parallel.
  • Setting out clear seasonal launch guidelines for the Trading Co-ordinator/Administrator.

The skills & experience that you’ll need

  • Competitor and commercial awareness
  • Knowledge and passion about online and multi-channel retail and customer experience
  • Expertise in analysing and reporting information
  • Highly competent in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively; work well with a team and have a pro-active, ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Ability to develop relationships with appropriate departments
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines is essential.
