Job description
2023 is an exciting time for Age UK, we are developing a new organisational strategy and enhancing the digital experiences that we offer.
We are looking for an ambitious Digital Product Manager to be the main point of contact for our Services team and third-party developers. This role will be instrumental in creating a roadmap of change which delivers excellent value for both National Age UK and the local partners.
Age UK is a federated charity with over 125 brand partners across England and Wales. Our brand partners vary in size and digital maturity and together we provide a wide range of services to help people in later life throughout the UK.
We supply and support the network with their local websites, and we have launched our Brand Partner Portal (BPP) to make it easier to work together on a local and national level. The BPP has the aim to become the single point of access for our local partners (one-stop-shop).
The BPP is a standalone piece of tech integrated with our online Microsoft Dynamics CRM and it has a 2-way data feed with our on-premises CRM. It also has integrations with a local directory and the local Age UK websites as well as the main website.
There are other systems that our brand partners use in order to engage with us. It will be important to have a good understanding the wider context, analysing what problems this brings to our network of brand partners and what this means for the future of the Brand Partner portal.
Our main CMS sits on Optimizely and each local partner has their own site as part of that environment. You will develop a vision and roadmap taking into consideration the needs of our local partners, national Age UK and end-users.
Age UK is a large and complex charity, so you need a collaborative mind-set and stakeholder management experience. Communicating and managing expectations is something you love doing. You will work closely with our Services team, Digital Network manager, internal developers and three agencies.
You will play an instrumental role in shaping how we manage digital products at Age UK, be data-driven, champion Agile ways of working and be a source of knowledge on product management, helping to inspire others and embed best practice.
This role is offered on a Hybrid / London contract and will include occasional travel to our co-working hub in East London.
You will have:
- Proven ability working as a Digital product manager or owner in an agile environment
- Experience of creating product visions and strategies working with a variety of stakeholders

- Experience of setting key metrics and monitoring the success of products
- Experience and application of user-centred design and user testing processes
- Experience of mapping out complex user journeys
- Experience of analysis and refining requirements (functional and non-functional)
- Proven ability of managing product documentation such as backlogs, customer journeys, use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria
- Experience of using data and insights to inform decision making
- Experience of facilitating Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives
- Sound knowledge of UX principles and accessibility
- A team player with the ability to build constructive relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of people
- Ability to resolve complex situations and deal sensitively with differences of opinion
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
- Ability to be pro-active, assertive, resilient and convincing
- Product management training and certification
- Ability to see the bigger picture and provide strategic thinking that supports leaders with decision-making
- Experience in managing or mentoring others
What we offer in return:
- Competitive salary, 26 days annual leave + bank holidays
- Excellent pension scheme, life assurance, health cashback plan and EAP.
