Job summary You’ll be part of a small, busy team within the Strategy, Delivery and Communications Directorate. The directorate leads the OfS’s work on external and internal communications and public affairs: media relations and planning, digital publishing, multimedia support, stakeholder engagement and parliamentary support, publications, events and public information. You’ll help to develop, implement and manage OfS digital communications: designing and developing content for the OfS website and our staff intranet editing and publishing content contributing to strategic planning. You’ll work closely with colleagues from across communications, including the press team, designers, and strategic communications officers, as well as with authors and others in other teams across the OfS. The role The role sits within the digital publishing team. The team publishes information about the range of the OfS’s work. This gives us a bird’s-eye view of the OfS’s work and of current issues in higher education more broadly – you’ll be at the heart of what’s going on. You’ll be helping to create and curate a variety of communications products: reports and publications, guidance, blog posts, press releases, web pages, videos and social media. We’re continually looking to improve the way we do things to drive a culture of ‘digital first’ within the OfS, and will welcome your ideas, commitment and enthusiasm. About you We’re looking for someone with expertise in digital communications. You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a firm grasp of how to edit and write for digital publications and digital media, and to be able to build strong, positive working relationships. You’ll also need strong project management skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise your work across a range of projects and respond effectively to changing demands. We’ll expect you to work independently, exercising your good judgement and initiative, and will make sure you have the training and support you need to do this. Experience using Umbraco and Adobe Creative Cloud would be an advantage, although this is not essential. Enablers The OfS currently uses a set of ‘enablers’ to evaluate candidate strengths.
