Are you as comfortable in finding and writing news articles as you are shooting and editing videos? Do you have experience of experience of creating and implementing compelling digital content strategies across internal and external channels? Then you could be what we’re looking for. We are seeking an experienced Digital Communications Manager to help drive the HSBC UK story in the UK through compelling digital communications, across multiple channels and formats, to engage our audiences and help us to have a measurable impact on reputation and employee engagement.
The role-holder will manage HSBC’s digital workplace in the UK, taking content ideas from idea conception through to delivery, and ensuring effective content and distribution strategies that deliver maximum impact across internal and external channels.

In this role, you will:
- Manage HSBC’s intranet and digital workplace in the UK
- Manage content and distribution strategies that deliver maximum impact across our channels
- Create content for HSBC UK’s intranet, digital workplace and social media in a range of mediums including video, graphics and the written word
- Ensure our program of digital communications is proportionate and aligned with HSBC UK’s strategic communications themes
- Spearhead the modernisation of our digital communications – in substance and form.
- Support the proliferation of best-in-class story-telling and engagement techniques to attract and retain audiences.
- Be the ‘digital expert’ for the UK Comms Team, sharing new ideas and best practice to help us improve the standard of content creating across the board.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the HSBC UK Communications team, the broader function and the broader HSBC UK bank to ensure seamless delivery of content for HSBC UK channels
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience of working in a similar digital communications role or environment
- Experience of creating and implementing digital content strategies across channels
- Experience of creating compelling, engaging and impactful digital content end to end, from ideation through to shooting and editing videos, creating infographics, recording and editing podcasts
- Ability to scope out and write compelling news articles, including turning complex issues into simple, compelling and purposeful messages
- Experience of managing intranets/digital workplaces and the ability to get the most out of corporate social platforms
- Experience of using analytics and reporting to improve communications
- Knowledge and continuous growth in that knowledge of digital communications and trends
- Ability to interact with and advise senior management and communications colleagues
- Able to work within an ambiguous and busy environment, prioritise and reconcile competing demands and resolve complex
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a large complex organisation
- Experience of working within financial services
The base location for this role is Birmingham/Hybrid.
