Job Title: Diagnostic Imaging Assistant (DIA)

Location: Southeast Region (Peterborough and/or Cambridge)

Salary Range: £21,840 FTE (£10.50 per hour)

Job Type: Permanent, both full-time and part-time hours considered.

Hours: 40 hours per week full-time (24 hours part-time) Monday-Friday.

As a Diagnostic Imaging Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of ultrasound sessions, providing essential support to both patients and our dedicated Sonographers in our Southeast Region clinics in Peterborough and/or Cambridge. Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients in a professional and courteous manner, confirming their identification and inputting accurate patient data into the ultrasound system.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff, providing clear explanations and instructions regarding ultrasound examinations.
  • Collaborate closely with sonographers to maintain a seamless patient database, ensuring accurate recording of patient appointments and promptly addressing any booking errors or urgent reports.
  • Safely transport ultrasound equipment and ancillary tools to and from designated sites as per the weekly rota schedule.
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring the cleanliness of ultrasound equipment and rooms.
  • Ensure optimal stock levels of ultrasound consumables.
  • Assist patients safely using proper manual handling techniques, supporting them during procedures and advocating for their comfort and well-being.
  • Upload and transfer confidential patient image data to PACS, following information governance protocols.
  • Act as a first-line investigator for any issues encountered during clinical sessions, liaising with the patient services team to ensure swift resolutions.
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and uphold the highest standards of patient care.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or clinical setting (desirable)
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for safe transportation of equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Basic technical proficiency and computer literacy.
  • Flexibility regarding working hours to meet the changing needs of the service (desirable)
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure and focus.
