Department/Ward: Imaging - Radiology
Hours: 37.5 HPW Mon-Fri 8:30-17:00
Pay: £27.82 - £44.51 per hour
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, HCPC registered Radiographer to join the radiology team at Wythenshawe Hospital, to carry out a full range of examinations referred to the department for bone mineral densitometry studies. The post-holder is required to work independently.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Take responsibility for the welfare and comfort of the patient whilst under the care of clinical radiology - prior, during and after their examination
- To actas an operator under IR(ME)R 2017
- Ensure all requests are justified prior to exposure to ionising radiation - as required by the IR(ME)R regulations
- Ensure all patients are positively identified prior to commencement of any examination, as required by IR(ME)R protocol
- From the clinical/research information available on the examination request form or from the local unit guidelines, select the appropriate scanning protocol required to optimise the diagnostic examination
- Working within the protocol based system, the post-holder must have the knowledge and skills to be able to adapt existing protocols when required and assist in the development of new protocols as new imaging techniques develop
- Advise patients on general aspects of their referral, giving a clear explanation of the procedure and allaying any unnecessary anxieties
- Assist in the completion of Consent Forms, Patient Lifestyle Questionnaires and anthropometric measurements as required
- Perform physiological measurements such as muscle strength testing as required by specific research studies and after appropriate training
- Physically position the patient for a full range of Bone Densitometry examinations ensuring image quality, patient comfort and safety are maintained at all times
- Review all scan data to ensure scans are of optimum quality

To be successful, you will need:
- BSc or DCR in Diagnostic Radiography
- Registration with the Health Professional Council as a Radiographer
- Experience working within the NHS
- Extensive experience undertaking a full range of DEXA scans on a Hologic DEXA scanner
