Job description
- You’ll be responsible for building, leading, supporting and improving these capabilities including all the normal DevOps type skills (automation, collaboration, continuous delivery etc) in our AWS and other future cloud services.
- The role requires a broad cross section of skills along with a strong consultative approach. You'll work with the team and consumers on-site to ensure that the right practices are in place and to take the lead on automating as far as possible
- You will be responsible for platform backlog grooming and planning and automation of all aspects. You will also be responsible for the knowledge sharing with wider team as well as implementation and upkeep of common IAAS, PAAS & tooling capabilities.
- Implementing common pipelines and paths to production. You'll be working with the product owner and scrum masters to build and communicate a cohesive platform vision in accordance with KF infrastructure strategies and vendors or Open Source technology as required.
- You'll have a background utilising DevOps practices to enable Continuous Delivery, you'll be open to pair programming and working closely with Developers in multi-functional teams. Scripting language or coding experience (including Powershell, Python, Shell, Bash) is key.
- A strong technical background in build, release and environments, with experience of CI tools like Gitlab Runners, Jenkins. You'll have a solid understanding of Linux (Redhat, Ubuntu and CentOS) and Windows, good knowledge of Private and Public Cloud Capabilities (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc).
- Experience in Infrastructure provisioning tools e.g. Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation as well as strong automation skills, including experience with unit testing and automated testing tools including Ansible, Puppet
- With proven ability craft sign and support robust build, deployment and configuration management systems for multi-tier services using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef or Salt and a good understanding of telemetry practices (monitoring, graphing, alerting, anomaly detection).
- A strong understanding of networking concepts, technologies, and protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, HTTP, FTP, DHCP, DNS as well as Palo Alto, Cumulus and F5) and expertise with software build tools (GitHub, Jenkins etc).
- Experience of running software in production is key and demonstrable experience of working with and supporting the security administration process and relevant security domain leads, within a cloud/dev-ops context.
We’re adopting a hybrid approach with some office and some home working, on average 40-60% in the office. Your office location? This person will be UK based with our Head Office in Paddington, or we could explore the option of being based in one of our other retail banners head offices in Southampton or Yeovil.
