BT's Enterprise Digital team is responsible for building integrated, scalable, and robust enterprise journeys. We are currently looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with proven experience in designing, architecting, and implementing robust and durable solutions, especially in the cloud, preferably at scale.

About the Role:
This role is a hybrid working position working remotely and from our Birmingham Digital Hub.
You will be joining the Platforms team within Enterprise digital whose goal is to make life for the development teams in other parts of the business easier by providing a set of low friction, fully managed cloud capabilities and abstracting these complexities away from the developer – allowing them to focus on code and not infrastructure. We are a non-traditional DevOps function, focusing on coding for automation and developing tooling and capabilities engineered to impact multiple teams. As a member of the Platform team you will play a key role in reimagining productivity by shipping transformative services, tools and frameworks that serve diverse aspects of the enterprise. You will have the ability to shape the direction that we take and have a hands-on role in the implementation of this solution.

Responsibilities:
  • Help design and implement patterns, services, tools, frameworks, APIs and capabilities across our AWS estate that accelerate developer productivity with a security conscious mindset.
  • Play an integral part in providing our Dev Ops capabilities within the team and provide solutions to the challenging problems that we are trying to solve for all developers
  • Be a direct contributor to our CI/CD platform on AWS with a focus on removing barriers on the path to production
  • Be a proponent of automation, identifying opportunities for us to go faster, while keeping security and best practice in mind.
  • Nurture and grow mid and junior level engineers within the team as we scale up to deliver on an ambitious program of work

Essential Skills:
  • You are experienced in at least one of the following programming languages (Typescript or JavaScript) and with software development in a “cloud-native” environment. (3+ years)
  • You write clean, tested code, and are an advocate for it amongst your team.
  • You have hands-on experience of Amazon Web Services and serverless architectures in the cloud (2+ years)
  • You have a working knowledge and experience using CI/CD tools - GitLab, Jenkins (or other).
  • You are comfortable taking a system approach to problem solving, abstracting away complexity and designing using diagramming tools to get your point across.

Desiriable:
  • You have had working hands-on experience with a number of AWS service offerings: particularly focusing on their Compute, Management & Governance, Storage, Security; Identity & Compliance, Networking & Content Delivery, FinOps, Containers & Database products.
  • You hold or be preparing for an AWS certification – ideally a solutions architect associate or a specialism.
  • You have hands-on experience taking requirements for infrastructure and designing and implementing reusable and robust solutions.

Benefits:
  • Competitive salary
  • 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
  • 10% on target bonus
  • Life Assurance
  • Pension scheme
  • Option to join the Healthcare Cash Plan or other benefits such as dental insurance, gym memberships etc.
  • 50% off BT and EE mobile pay monthly or SIM only plans
  • Exclusive colleague discounts on our latest and greatest BT broadband packages
  • BT TV, including BT Sport and the NOW Entertainment membership, and 25% off NOW Sport, Cinema and Kids
  • 30% discount for friends and family on EE mobile pay monthly and SIM only plans
