Available Job Today The Squire Law Library at the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and customer-focused library colleague to the interesting role of Senior Library Assistant (Serials and Collection Management). This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team and to play an important part in the operation of one of the largest libraries in the University and one of the leading academic law collections in the UK.
The Squire underpins the teaching and research activities of Cambridge's Faculty of Law and aims to provide the highest standards of customer service.
You will assist with overseeing the significant collection of serial publications held by the Squire Law Library. These publications include law reports, legislation, journals (in print) and other legal materials collected by the library and managed for the benefit of legal researchers, law students and visiting scholars associated with Cambridge's Faculty of Law. The role also includes collection management activities ensuring that all the materials kept on the shelves, and in store, are arranged correctly and appropriately spaced for ease of access. The role also involves assisting researchers and students with their enquiries as part of the Library's reference service.
Strong organisational ability, good communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, flexibility and an eye for detail and accuracy are all important attributes for this role at the Squire Law Library.
This post is full-time - Monday to Friday with some Saturday morning work on a rota basis with other library colleagues for which time is given off in lieu.
The Squire Law Library is one of the Humanities and Social Sciences libraries and is a part of the wider network that is known as Cambridge University Libraries (CUL). The post holder can be assigned to any aspect of CUL's work.
