Senior DevOps Engineer Inside IR35
Contract Term: 6 Months
Contracting Authority: UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)
Location: Remote (Occasional travel to Swindon Office)
We are seeking an experienced DevOps/Platform Engineer to join our existing team, focused on upgrading and reducing our dependency on Legacy systems.
We are modernising and stabilising an existing platform to use the latest AWS techniques. This platform is comprised of Java and Elastic Search running in a number of Docker containers.
Your expertise will be invaluable in guiding our Legacy system workstream, contributing to an improved technology landscape that supports UKRI growth and risk reduction.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer your main responsibilities would be:
· Understanding the existing Website Deployment.
· Upgrading to use AWS EKS or similar technologies.
· Improve our CI/CD pipeline process.
· Working with the Java Developer as required.
· Validating and enhancing AWS WAF rules to ensure they align with the most recent security standards.
· Review our AWS cloud watch rules.
· Implement incremental enhancements as necessary.
You’ll have relevant experience in:
· Strong experience in designing, deploying, and managing AWS infrastructure.
· Experienced in AWS cloud services, in particular EKS, WAF and Cloud Watch.
· Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker.
· Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
· Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
· Experience of DevOps methodologies and tools like CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code.
· Experience with version control systems such as Git.
· Understanding and experience of software testing methodologies and tools.
· Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
· Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
· Build relationships with key individuals within UKRI.
· Ability to author and/or review technical documentation.
