We have an excellent opportunity for ServiceNow DevOps Engineer (ITSM), a highly skilled role within Centrica’s Enterprise Platform's Operational Delivery team, responsible for configuring and maintaining ITSM platform to best fit Centrica needs. Utilise analytics and advanced understanding of consumer needs and ways of working, to continually optimise the ITSM platform and personalise User Experience and functionality for large range of different usage groups and use
cases.
We are currently performing several cloud migration and application modernisation programmes across the estate to modernise our estate. This includes migration of 7 million customers to a brand-new cloud energy platform to support NetZero. We are creating solutions that supports the dynamic nature of energy usage, as we use more EV, Heat pumps and Battery Storage. It’s a very exciting time to join Centrica!
The Role
As a ServiceNow DevOps Engineer, you will be:
- Establishing a central ITSM Platform, supporting Operational Delivery, Compliance and Auditing requirements
- Shape Process Automation, Orchestration and Self-Service Catalogues and fulfilment mechanisms
- Balancing the work on features and operational backlog requirements
- Continuously learning and keeping abreast of best tech
- To ensure that the software delivery pipeline is as efficient as possible. Building and operating software to help development, operations and support teams
- Working as part of a team of likeminded engineers in order to develop systems and software that help increase IT reliability and performance
- Fixing support issues in an automated “fix it once” manner
- Conducting post-incident reviews and trend analysis, training AI models to alert/prevent future occurrences
- Building a culture of engagement and service excellence within the organisation
- Continuously sharing knowledge and educating others on responsible DevOps practices
- Evangelising Digital ITSM practices by openly and honestly showcasing capabilities, understanding the outcomes customers are seeking and forever searching for the most simple and elegant Processes
- Ensuring the feedback cycle is employed at all levels of the role
What we need from you?
Strong technical knowledge across cloud, infrastructure and applications domains and DevOps tooling, current and emerging technologies for ITSM, tooling, alerting and automation- Capability for continual improvement and ultra-fast technology skill take-on
- Ability to engage, build and sustain stakeholder relationships and influence decisions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms and clearly communicate to both technical and non-technical staff
- Ability to improve operational efficiency and service delivery effectiveness
- Able to lead virtual teams and hold peers to agreed standards of delivery and performance
- Strong problem-solving skills combined with ability to take courageous decisions often with limited time and information in order to restore service
- Strong analytical skills to bring out key information from multiple data sources to drive superior operational performance
