JOB TITLE: Product Development Engineer I
JOB SUMMARY
The Product Development Engineer I is responsible for the design and development of new products (firearms & accessories), as well as improvements and support to existing products. This person participates, in varying capacities, in all phases of product development, including building and testing prototypes, sourcing/purchasing, quality control, manufacturing engineering, and marketing. The product development engineer is an integral part of a multifunctional team that helps ensure success of a product throughout its entire life cycle.
REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

This person participates, in varying capacities, in all phases of product development, including building and testing prototypes, sourcing/purchasing, quality control, manufacturing engineering, and marketing. The product development engineer is an integral part of a multifunctional team that helps ensure success of a product throughout its entire life cycle.
REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation with CAD software (SolidWorks, Siemens NX, CREO, CATIA, etc.).
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (“GD&T”) per ASME Y14.5.
- Familiarity with firearms and the ability to work with firearms in a safe manner.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
PREFERED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- SolidWorks experience preferred.
- Previous experience in product development or design engineering preferred.
- Experience with the practical use of quality inspection equipment and measurement tools preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred; however, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
CORE DUTIES
- Design and develop 3D models and 2D drawings in support of new and existing products.
- Provide input/ideas for new products.
- Plan, conduct, and document hands-on testing of products.
- Troubleshoot and create solutions for production issues.
- Work closely with Quality team to gather and analyze inspection data.
- Design assembly fixtures/gauges.
- Create standardized work instructions for assembly processes.
- Generate technical content for use in creation of user manuals and similar documentation.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
HOURS
- “4x10 schedule” working Monday through Thursday, 7:00am – 5:30pm. Occasional work outside these hours may be required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
The selected candidate will be required to pass a background and drug screen. The potential candidate must also meet ATF requirements for Firearm possession.
