Job Title: Development Database Officer

Reporting to: Senior Development Officer

Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 until 14:00

Salary: Circa. £27-30K pro-rata

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Cambridge, UK (remote or hybrid)

CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) is an international non-profit organisation tackling poverty and inequality by supporting marginalised girls to go to school and succeed, and empowering young women to step up as leaders of change. Since 1993, CAMFED’s innovative education programmes in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi have directly supported more than five million students to attend primary and secondary school.

Job Purpose

The Development Database Officer is a key member of the Fundraising team. They are involved with all aspects of gift processing, including managing the Salesforce donor database and related operations, generating tax receipts and acknowledgments, and liaising with team members to verify information. The Officer also works closely with the finance team on monthly revenue reconciliations and provides support during the annual audit and fiscal budget preparation. The Officer’s scope of work supports the structure and systems for effective and donor centric development activity.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Processing and recording of donations received through various sources including CAMFED’s website, direct mail and through third party platforms, ensuring information captured on the Salesforce database is correct and up to date.
  • Maintaining accurate records on the Salesforce database, including giving history, communications, strategies and activities.
  • Providing donors with information related to their giving e.g. thank you letters, tax receipts and acknowledgements, ensuring donor-centric personalised and high quality communications.
  • Tracking of and engagement with lapsed donors.
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity, and the accurate and consistent logging of information in alignment with protocols and procedures.
  • Supporting the Finance Team in updating financial information relating to donations.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned, including assistance with reports for research and analysis of donor-related activities.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of databases and Google Suite.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective team-working skills.
  • Exceptional client focus grounded in a commitment to understand the needs of both external clients (donors) and internal clients (co-workers) and respond to them fully.
  • Proactive, ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise tasks and manage multiple workstreams.
  • Commitment and passion for CAMFED’s values, mission and vision.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
