Job description
A Staff Training and Development Coordinator opportunity is available with the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library’s Human Resources Department. This person will create, plan, deliver, and schedule training programs that support the development of non-management level and management level employees. The right candidate will have a passion for learning and development. You will be assessing employee training needs and aligning training with our organization’s goals, including those that are strategic and support D.E.I. You will also be overseeing our tuition reimbursement program, system-wide New Hire Orientation, and annual Staff Development Day.
We are looking for demonstrated excellence in the areas of training and development, excellent interpersonal skills, and a desire to work in public service. This is a full-time 40 hours per week position.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in human resources, education, talent development, business, or liberal arts.
- Minimum of three (3) years work experience in a relevant field that includes the administration and coordination of training and development policies and programs.
- Experience creating training documentation in a variety of formats.
- Organizational development skills are helpful.
- Experience with learning management software.
- Experience with managing a budget is helpful.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for instructional design, and training of adult individuals and groups.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities, and to bring complex issues to resolution.
- Strong communication skills.
- Empathy such as the ability to build rapport, listen, understand customers’ and coworkers’ needs, and ability to see multiple perspectives.
- Ability to effectively present in a variety of formal settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity software, and other relevant software applications relevant for training and development work.
- Valid transportation and ability to travel to other library branches.

Benefits and Salary
Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (we pay 4% of your 10% required contribution), vacation/sick time, and 10 paid holidays. We offer medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability plans and 6 weeks of paid parental leave. The starting salary for this position is $47,528 to $54,000, commensurate with experience and skills.
