Norwich based Ellipsis Brands founded in 2013 is a fast growing cosmetics business, focused on creating and growing distinctive new brands in personal care. Our brand portfolio includes Percy Nobleman and Q+A. We sell to large UK retailers, and direct to retailers and distributors around the globe, as well as online.
Job Overview
Ellipsis Brands are looking for a Development Chemist with experience in managing a small team.
This will be a key role in the business as it accelerates to the next level of its development. The job holder is expected to manage within the development team, in refining existing product portfolios and in creating new, ground-breaking ranges. We anticipate a very high rate of growth in the next 1-3 years, and much of this will be driven by product innovation coupled with effective production techniques. This role will play to both agendas.
Candidates will need a degree in chemistry and cosmetic science experience. We are also looking for the enthusiasm, determination, creativity, and pragmatism to contribute to this function within the business.

Responsibilities and Duties
Direct responsibilities will be formulating samples to NPD briefs for review, testing and ultimately sign off to go to market. You can therefore expect to be given early responsibility for ensuring the quality and consistency of formulations, often against demanding timescales.
In addition the candidate will assist in:
· All aspects of technical product development: from ideas, through innovation to testing and delivery, working in tandem with the NPD team
. Managing a small team of Lab technicians who also conduct QA and QC work
· Oversight (and ultimate responsibility for) all aspects of technical and regulatory testing of the formulations
. Batch scale up
Qualifications and Attributes
· Degree level qualification in chemistry and/or cosmetic science
· An interest in the cosmetics industry
· An innovator and experimenter, who still has the discipline to translate new thinking into repeatable outcomes
· Analytical, orderly and with a meticulous attention to detail
· Ambitious, self-starter, with the drive to make a difference quickly
· Ability to collaborate and manage a happy harmonious team
