This is a Permanent role and we welcome applicants seeking a part time opportunity or who live in another area of the North East outside of Newcastle.
The Development and Outreach Coordinator`s goal is to develop partnerships with community organisations, employers and groups for delivery of WEA courses within the region. You will work with the regional education team and volunteers. to establish positive partnerships and create clear pathways to make our learning offer, accessible and within reach new and existing learners.
The scale and breadth of our curriculum offer is what makes us special. It is our most powerful and important resource in meeting the needs of our learners and the communities, regardless of starting point or educational need - We bring learning to the learner, whether it be in local trusted venues or their living room via online learning.
Reporting to the Area Education Manager, the Development and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for supporting and growing existing partnerships, developing new opportunities across the North East and Cumbria and bringing learning opportunities to the most deprived areas.
The Development and Outreach Coordinator will work closely with other stakeholders, to bring adult education within reach to Learners who are looking to enhance their employability prospects or to develop essential skills to improve confidence, health and wellbeing.
At the heart of our area team, you will support existing partners; develop opportunities local; and contribute to regional plans supporting the development of provision, including learner recruitment, promotional activities and funding for new work.

As a Development and Outreach Coordinator, you should have:
- A degree, or equivalent, with a teaching level 4 (level 5 specialism) and have IQA and Assessor qualifications;
- Experience and enthusiasm for developing and maintaining partnerships with organisations that share WEA values
- Confidence and capability to engage with a variety of stakeholders
- Experience of proactively working in partnership and networking in communities and working independently
- Good organisational skills
- Experience of keeping accurate records
- A commitment to equality and diversity
- Experience of using IT systems including Microsoft
