SUMMARY:
Rakuten Rewards Canada is seeking for a Designer 1 (Jr. Graphic Designer) with proven work in digital media and social (e-commerce experience would be an asset). You will report directly to the Manager, Graphic Design and collaborate closely with Product, Marketing and Sales, while striving to understand and anticipate customer needs to exceed expectations. As a driven and passionate creative professional, you possess a sharp eye in composition, layout, typography, photography, and exceptional attention to detail. The role requires fundamental strengths in the ability to multi-task, problem solve, and to keep up with current visual and design trends. It is a fast-paced environment and we thrive on agility. You not only need to excel in production work, but original design as well – we need someone who understands deadlines and can stay agile.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountable for upholding design accuracy and consistency, while adhering to brand guidelines and design systems
- Execute creative assets for use in email, web (desktop/mobile), app and other channels.
- Gather, prepare, and present conceptual ideas by designing rough layout of art & copy arrangement, size, style and related aesthetics
- Provide design support for the greater design team, as needed, outside of assigned projects
- Assist with production. This includes (but is not limited to) scale, crop, retouch, & resize designs to fit necessary size requirements.
- Ensure assets meet established design standards and are ready to be reviewed by project leads
- Work collaboratively with a team, cross-departmentally, and with senior leadership
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- 1+ years of professional experience working in a design studio or in-house environment
- Possess a strong portfolio of work examples that demonstrate ideas from conception to final product with excellent use of composition, layout, typography, and imagery
- Knows the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma
- Beginner skills in production and post production
- Experience in Adobe After Effects and motion graphics an asset, but not required to start
- Experience with Indesign producing printed media an asset, but not required
- Fundamental knowledge of online file limitations and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and rise to creative challenges
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Goes the extra mile to QA/proofread/review own + team members’ work
- Willing to learn and grow as design trends and applications evolve
