Workplace Experience
MillerKnoll’s Workplace Experience (WX) team is seeking a Workplace Designer to join their team. Come help write the next chapter of the MillerKnoll legacy and define the future of the workplace. The Workplace Experience team supports our sales organization by leading advisory engagements with our clients that help them create places that matter. The boundaries of the workplace have been radically expanded and we help clients tackle challenges both novel and familiar. Our team prides itself on maintaining excellence in the work that we do while maintaining a strong sense of work-life balance that upholds our people-centered values. This is a mid-level design position in the design discipline with opportunities to grow and assume increasing amount of responsibility.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative designer that can create compelling solutions for any of MillerKnoll’s diverse clients. The Workplace Designer will work with our regional and global sales teams facing MillerKnoll’s largest and most strategic customers. They will be support and lead advisory engagements with clients to craft tailored approaches and solutions for the workplace. Designers will also work in concert with Workplace Experience’s strategists and well-being experts to advise and guide clients holistically across multiple disciplines. Ideal candidates will be able to offer workplace expertise, develop trusted relationships with clients, and add value to our sales organization’s efforts. This role will report to a WX Studio Lead with a primary priority region. This is a regionally remote role, and candidates should be located in the US Pacific time zone within 75 miles of Los Angeles, California, San Francisco, California, Portland, Oregon, or Seattle, Washington . They will regularly meet with clients and MillerKnoll associates in person regionally and occasionally throughout North America.
Responsibilities
  • Solve client needs by designing spaces that matter, while upholding MillerKnoll design principles and values.
  • Work with Regional Sales Directors, Global Account Managers, executive stakeholders, and the broader sales teams to develop appropriate account strategy, prioritization, and scope of engagements
  • Work directly with clients, their architecture and design (A&D) partners, and affiliated dealers throughout a variety of engagements including, but not limited to, insights presentations, visioning, workplace assessments and workshops, design consultations, live design sessions, comprehensive FF&E product application design, and post-occupancy evaluation.
  • Lead and support open-ended consultative conversations with clients, synthesizing expertise and fluency of current workplace research, insights, strategy, and the MillerKnoll workplace point of view.
  • Collaborate with WX Workplace Strategists and Well-Being Consultants to craft comprehensive advisory engagements to clients and serve as a knowledge expert for the design discipline within MillerKnoll.
  • Create, maintain, and improve materials, presentations, and content used for client engagements to assist the continuous improvement of the WX team.
  • Support other client and industry stakeholders including project management, real estate, et al. and tailor engagement approaches accordingly.
  • Support WX Applied Insights & Knowledge initiatives to create content highlighting product application
  • Travel as needed (up to 25-30%) for client engagements at MillerKnoll venues as well as remote sites
  • Work with WX Studio leads to scope and optimize engagements with clients to maximize impact across WX’s KPIs and objectives.
Requirements

Qualified candidates shall be strongly capable of the following:
Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Facility Design from an accredited program, or equivalent education and professional experience. Master's degree preferred.
7 - 10 years of experience in interior design, space planning, or facility management.
3 - 5 years of experience with commercial furniture systems, including MillerKnoll product knowledge is preferred
Demonstrated ability to use AutoCad, Revit, and current 3D software.
Advanced knowledge of industry standard specification tools.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft & Adobe product lines utilized for presentations.
Proven experience applying workplace trends and research.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including professional presentation and facilitation skills.
Proven conceptual problem-solving experience for interiors.
Successful experience working with a wide array of contract furniture products to meet emerging needs in a create way.
Demonstrated research, diagnostic, and synthesis skills around a breadth of topic areas for workplace interiors.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, work environment and at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated ability to build long-term relationships with customers and business partners; particularly at senior decision-
making levels across an organization.
Applied knowledge of issues/applications in contract furniture product.
Exhibits ability to work cooperatively both in a team environment and independently.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully coordinate efforts of internal/external resources.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software and tools currently used in the MK office environment.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

A starting compensation range for this role is $99,100.00 - $124,900.00. Relevant salary considerations will include candidate qualifications and experience, other business/organizational needs and market factors . You may also be eligible to receive a geographic premium, annual discretionary incentive and equity awards which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
