About the role
This is a great opportunity for an experienced, creative and detail-oriented Designer to join our creative team to support Mayden in all aspects of visual communication. Working with our in-house Designer as a key specialist in an agile environment, we are looking for someone who shares our vision of making a positive difference in healthcare.
Designer – Key responsibilities:
- Interpreting briefs and determining requirements.
- Working with specialists within Mayden and with our external clients in order to understand and meet briefs.
- Liaising with specialists outside Mayden (for example, animators, photographers, videographers, illustrators, printers) in order to deliver on briefs and deadlines.
- Following, and helping to develop, our visual identity guidelines.
- Advising on strategies to engage with our target audiences.
- Creative communication of our company and product vision, using design best practices.
- You will work with campaign owners, producers, content specialists, copywriters, UX and social media experts across a wide range of projects, including:
- Websites
- Printed materials
- Event space design
- Email design
- Storyboarding
- Social media assets
- Mayden internal communications
Designer – You are:
- A creative and innovative problem solver with the ability to inspire, inform and captivate.
- Able to work to multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Thorough and detail-minded.
- Able to organise and prioritise effectively in a self-managing team
- Willing to get under the surface and develop knowledge of the healthcare sector.
- A great written and verbal communicator.
- Able to interpret, question and act on feedback from stakeholders.
- A supportive and collaborative team player.
Designer – Skills and Experience:
- Experience in a commercial design environment and able to show an impressive portfolio.
- Formal design education such as a graphic design degree or equivalent.
- Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, XD, Acrobat Pro).
- A solid understanding of the theory and practice of designing for accessibility.
- Experience in working with website developers to produce websites with the best possible UI and UX.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of latest design industry trends.
- Good presentation skills.
- Comfortable with working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Assisting in art direction at photo shoots.
- An interest in animation and video production.

Hours and Location
The position is for a full time member of our team, 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday.
We work best together and believe there is significant benefit from working face to face for the work and working relationships. As a general guideline, we believe it would be difficult to maintain effective communication if you are in the office for much less than half of your working time. This has informed our approach to our place of work policy, which allows for some working at home depending on the needs of the business and teams.
The role involves occasional travel.
You must be eligible to live and work in the UK.This role is not eligible for sponsorship by Mayden for a skilled worker visa. We are therefore unable to accept applications from individuals who would require an employer to sponsor them for a work permit.
