Job Purpose
As an Electro-Magnetic Technical specialist, you will be an active member of the magnetic design team for electricmotors. You will be at the forefront of designing state of the art traction motors and supporting the designprototyping and analysis of electric motors. Your role will essentially be to design concept motor topology, modelelectromagnetics, run analysis 2D and 3D, and conduct optimization to meet the requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Specification, design, and analysis of advanced traction motors
- Perform motor electromagnetic and thermal design optimization.
- Perform motor NVH analysis and develop NVH reduction remedies
- Run basic structural analysis, support detailed analysis
- Engage in advanced projects and IP development
- Perform worst case analysis and implement design for manufacturing best practices
- Assist characterization, parameter estimation, tuning and calibration of motor system on dyno.
- Develop testing plans to validate motor electromagnetic and thermal designs including performance anddurability.
- Work with mechanical engineers to create motor design drawings and release to manufacturing.
- Support structural and mechanical analysis of motor systems.
- Support motor manufacturing development including material sourcing, supplier engagement and processdevelopment.
- Establish key product characteristics and develop a bill of materials for an approved design.
- Meet Timing, Cost, Quality, and Performance (Requirements)
- Validate the design of new products or product enhancements by completing various analyses such as stack-ups, DFMEA, Finite Element Analysis, Design for Assembly/ Manufacturing studies, and Noise, Vibration, andHarshness studies.
- Coordinate the testing and validation of product designs; gains prototype and part approval.
