Design Manager
Guildford
An opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join the team at Galliford Try.
Ideally, you will based in or around the Guildford area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.
What you will be doing:
- Build effective working relationships throughout the business, up to and including Director level.
- Develop relationships with internal and external customers.
- Promote a culture of inclusive customer service and equal opportunities, to exemplify and promote Galliford Try.
- To implement and comply with Galliford Try’s SHE policy and procedures, all legal requirements, and best practice within the business unit and areas.
- Ensure the achievement of the annual financial budget (operating profit) for the business unit.
- Manage the process of designing solutions.
- Lead on ‘value engineering’.
- Lead on the generation of tenders.
- Manage the winning of contracts while minimising risk and maximising gross profit.
- Manage the design process for tender, as directed.
- Meet or exceed the expectations of external and internal customers and to contribute to achieving the greatest possible satisfaction for all customers in all their dealings with Galliford Try’s.
- Propose the design solution for tenders.
- Implement best practice.
- Ensure the process of assessing, preparing (including post-tender activities), validating, adjudication and final submission of tenders on time and to the required quality.
- Manage the process of designing solution(s), to meet or exceed customers’ requirements.
- Manage negotiations with the customer for the design solution retained at the end of the bidding process.
- Work with the commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors and subcontractors during the tender and fulfilment processes.
- Manage the handover of the project plan(s) (PEP) to the fulfilment team (procurement, contract management, commercial management and project management.
- Assess, control and mitigate risks and implement Galliford Try’s risk policy.
- Support the project teams to fulfil contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while minimising costs.
- Undertake any other duties and ad hoc tasks which may reasonably be expected as requested by senior team members.
- Manage and supervise staff as appropriate.
